Saka admits only Arsenal regret amid blistering Gunners form - "It's coming!"

Bukayo Saka has admitted that he is forcing himself to remain patient as his wait for a first Arsenal hat-trick continues.

Saka has scored two goals in both of the wins over West Ham and Burnley as the Gunners sparked their title challenge into life. But his only senior hat-trick came in England's 7-0 win over North Macedonia in last June's Euro 2024 qualifier at Old Trafford.

The winger is desperate to finally take home a matchball from an Arsenal game though. His rich form has helped the Gunners to score 21 goals in their last five outings, heading into Wednesday's Champions League clash against Porto.

Despite his side now flying, Saka has admitted he is disappointed to have not yet scored a hat-trick. But the England international has insisted he will remain patient as he is sure it will soon come.

“I’m really pleased. I’m enjoying my football, but obviously I need to keep focused. But yeah, of course I’m happy to score two, two weeks in a row and hopefully the third one will come soon. It’s coming. It’s coming, but I need to be patient!” Saka said.

“It was a lot of fun out there. I really enjoyed it and it’s nice to see the fans coming up with new chants and stuff. I just loved it, so I enjoyed it. The boss has told us we’re the first Arsenal team to win five in a row at the start of the year.

"So it’s a nice achievement and we’ll definitely build momentum going forward. Definitely now that, not only that I’m playing well, the team’s playing well and we’re scoring a lot of goals.

"We’ve got some really important fixtures coming up, starting on Wednesday and I can’t wait to go there. I’m really excited. So yeah, looking forward to it and hopefully we can take this form into that game as well.”

In the lead-up to the Burnley trip, it had been reported Arsenal had set a massive price tag on Saka's head. But boss Mikel Arteta has dismissed suggestions that speculation had any impct on a player he now regards as being a key man.

"I have no clue, that’s a question for him, but I don’t think Bukayo needs much more motivation. We tried with our players to make them unpredictable and I’m sure the opponents are looking at us a lot, and we have to find ways to create them problems," he said.

"He’s got this ability and he trains a lot in many different situations in and around the box. Today he had two brilliant finishes again. We already see him (as a senior player) especially.

"Forwards, wingers with a level of consistency and numbers (he has) is something really strange to find, but it’s not a coincidence, that’s for sure. When you look at him every single day, the way he trains, the way he applies himself, the qualities that he has, and he can do more."
