Arsenal kept up their free-scoring form as they smashed five past Burnley on Saturday afternoon.

It comes less than a week after they hit West Ham United for six as they remain within two points of Premier League leaders Liverpool. Several players got on the scoresheet at Turf Moor as Mikel Arteta's men warmed up for their Champions League return in ideal fashion.

The north Londoners head to Portugal in midweek as the games continue to come thick and fast. Arteta won silverware within months of joining the club but has now gone nearly three years without a trophy - a run which the Gunners are desperate to end this term.

Here's the latest from the Emirates.

Arteta coy on Odegaard celebrations

Arteta claimed he didn't notice Martin Odegaard send a message to the so-called celebration police during Arsenal's emphatic win at Burnley.

The Norwegian scored the opening goal and celebrated by putting his hands over his ears and closing his eyes with a beaming smile on his face. Many saw it as a response to critics who accused the Arsenal captain of over-celebrating following the Gunners' 3-1 win at home to Liverpool several weeks ago.

Arteta was asked about Odegaard and his pointed celebration but said: "I didn't notice him make that gesture. He was really happy in the dressing room. I don't think he needs to send any messages. He needs to do what he feels. If he wants to do something then do it and deal with the consequences. We want him to do it because we really like it."

Havertz draws Maradona comparisons

Kai Havertz was compared to Diego Maradona by Piers Morgan after the German scored Arsenal's fifth goal in their win over Burnley.

The former Chelsea star picked the ball up high on the left when Dara O'Shea switched off before cutting into the box. The 24-year-old then nudged the ball through the legs of Hannes Delcroix at pace and produced a cool finish into the corner.

Morgan then said on Twitter : "OMG… @kaihavertz29 has just pulled a mini-Maradona.. sensational goal." Morgan later added: "Great performance, Kai.. you’re making a lot of critics, including me, eat our words."

Gunners given Mbappe solution

Arsenal must consider giving up two of their stars - Bukayo Saka among them - if they hope to land Kylian Mbappe, says former Premier League forward Darren Bent.

The World Cup winner has announced he will be leaving PSG in the summer and the rumour mill is swirling regarding his next club. Real Madrid are seen as the favourites with Liverpool also an option, but Arsenal are by no means out of the race and have been urged to consider axing some big names to land Mbappe.

Bent said on talkSPORT: "I’m not giving up Saka and Odegaard. I’d give up Gabriel Jesus and Martin Odegaard, or Gabriel Jesus and Saka. That pains me because Saka, an academy graduate, but you are talking about arguably the best player on the planet and he’s not old, he’s young. You’d have a centre-forward who was going to smash goals in and he can play on that right-hand side as well."
