EastEnders Nish Pansear actor praises 'brave' wife as she has cancer treatment
EastEnders' Navin Chowdhury has shared a heartfelt tribute to his 'brave' wife Charlie after her cancer diagnosis.
Navin, who joined EastEnders as Nish Pansear in 2022, first showed up towards the end of his character's 20-year jail term for murder. After tricking his on-screen wife Suki into getting back together, she had an affair with Eve Unwin, leading Nish to try to kill again. Over Christmas, Nish was hit over the head by Denise Fox when he tried to pull Suki out of the pub.
He ended up knocked out, but things got even scarier when Keanu Taylor arrived and nearly killed his wife Sharon Watts. Then, in a shocking turn of events, Sharon's best friend Linda Knight stabbed Keanu in self-defence. Suki, Sharon, Linda, Denise, Stacey Slater and Kathy Beale were famously called 'The Six' in a storyline that covered up Keanu's murder.
Navin paid an emotional tribute to his wife Charlie (@navinchowdhryofficial/Instagram)With the ladies feeling nervous, Nish woke up from his coma after his attack and returned to Albert Square determined to uncover the truth. Off-screen, Navin's life is very different from his TV character, but just as dramatic. His wife Charlie, who he's been married to for 12 years, had surgery for breast cancer in February 2023 after being diagnosed in 2020.
The actor often shares updates about her progress on Instagram. Navin, 53, took a moment to honour his brave wife and all the strong people fighting cancer. "My wife was diagnosed with triple-positive breast cancer back in the summer of 2020, and like so many of you out there, it just opens a door to a world you hope you never see," he said.

He shared his feelings while waiting during her surgery: "Being sat here now, during the surgery, it just hits home, the bravery and courage and heart and soul and spirit of all you cancer warriors out there, and just how profoundly moving your resilience and the fight that you have within you to take this battle on."
Navin also expressed his admiration for his wife and others with cancer: "To my wife and to all of you cancer warriors out there, I am just totally in awe of the strength that you have within yourselves. You are an inspiration and you all are just extraordinary." In October 2023, Navin looked back at Charlie's journey through chemotherapy as he shared a photo of a mug saying 'Straight Outta Chemo', marking Breast Cancer Awareness month and the two year anniversary of cancer treatment.
"2 years ago," he posted. "Mrs C lifted the cup! All my love to all the cancer warriors out there. Cancer awareness does not end in October." Navin and Charlie share two young sons, an 11-year-old and eight-year-old Noah.
