Arsenal will be hoping to continue their good form this weekend when they travel to Turf Moor to take on Burnley in the Premier League.

The Gunners currently sit just two points behind top of the table Liverpool, having cut the Reds' lead in recent weeks. Last weekend, Mikel Arteta's side put six past West Ham in a ruthless display, having beaten Liverpool 3-1 the week before.

In fact, Arsenal have won their last four games and scored 16 goals in the process, having seen their title bid falter over Christmas with some disappointing results. However, they are back in form and heading into a crucial run of fixtures, which includes their Champions League last 16 tie against Porto. Here, Mirror Football rounds up the latest Arsenal news.

Toney transfer boost

Ivan Toney was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal last month, but ultimately ended up staying at Brentford after returning to action following his ban for breaching FA betting rules.

However, understands the Bees are resigned to losing Toney at the end of the season and that there will be a straight fight between Arsenal and Chelsea to sign him. The Gunners are understood to be the favourites and Brentford have already signed a new striker to replace him.

The club announced on Wednesday that they had agreed a deal to sign Igor Thiago from Belgian side Club Brugge, with the 22-year-old set to officially link up with Brentford on July 1.

Mbappe warning

Following reports that Kylian Mbappe would be open to joining Arsenal so he could follow in the footsteps of his idol Thierry Henry, the Gunners have been warned against trying to sign the forward.

Former Rangers star Ally McCoist believes the impact of forking out so much money to sign a player like Mbappe would ultimately have a negative impact on the rest of the team. When asked if Arsenal should sign Mbappe, McCoist told talkSPORT: "No chance.

"Not only would you break it [the bank], you'd absolutely have to obliterate it and destroy it and once you do that, you know, it's happening. There's knocks on the door, 'He's on this, I'm only on a quarter of that, I've scored this many goals, etc etc.'"

Zubimendi branded "world-class"

Another player Arsenal have been heavily linked with is Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi.

And current Gunners star Kieran Tierney, who is currently out on loan at Sociedad, has delivered a ringing endorsement of Zubimendi's quality. In an interview with the Guardian, Tierney said: "You have world-class players like Martin Zubimendi, Mikel Merino, Brais Mendez.

"It's not that people don't think they're good, it's just that if you're only watching the Premier League every week, it's hard to know. They're world class."
