'Worst boss ever' refuses to accept employee's notice but gets roasted in email

There is nothing more awkward than having to tell your boss you are leaving your job role for a different opportunity at another company.

But, on top of that, imagine if your boss refused to accept you stepping down. One employee named Chris, was stuck in that very situation when he sent an email explaining he was handing in his one-month's notice.

Chris was ready to move on after working for the company for four years plus being offered a new, great job role. But, the individual was left with a savage and "passive-aggressive" response from his boss.

Entrepreneur Ben Askins, who shares workplace dilemmas on social media, was stunned when he was sent the dilemma. He shared what happened on his Instagram profile. Unhappy with his employee's decision boss Steve said: "People will have to pick up the slack with you gone. The fact you aren't willing to help them out at this time of year is a shame."

He continued: "But if that is your decision I guess we will have to make the most of it." Adding insult to injury, Steve did not even include a classic, polite email sign-off - such as Kind Regards, Regards Steve, Best Wishes, or say thanks.

Ben Askins described it as "such a petty response". Furious at their soon-to-be ex-boss' response, employee Chris clapped back. He said: "Hi Steve, this is not a fair response at all, I have worked extremely hard for you for the last four years.

"This is an extremely good opportunity for me and my family and the fact that you are saying things like this is just not on. Like I said, I will support for the next month to help the team as much as I can, but my decision is final."

Reacting to the email chain, business expert Ben added: "This is why Steve's an idiot. One - how he's behaved is reprehensible. Two - how do you think you find good replacements? It's because people like Chris around say 'I really enjoyed my time there'. It's such a basic recruitment tool. Idiotic management.

"Secondly, as an employee, you are well within your right to just work your notice." Responding to the workplace scenario shared by Ben, one individual said: "Chris is good. I would be looking to leave tomorrow."

Another described Chris' response as "so passive-aggressive".
