Sir Trevor McDonald is returning to our screens for a special programme this month.

The legendary broadcaster originally retired in 2005 but occasionally presents ITV specials. Now, it's been confirmed that he'll be making a digital comeback alongside Bill Bailey during a More4 special towards the end of this month.

Sir Trevor, 84, will travel across Essex with Bill Bailey as they travel on the perfect pub walk. Throughout the special episode, the broadcaster and comedian will visit sights which inspired John Constable around Dedham Vale as well as the border of Essex and Suffolk and the Stour Estuary.

The former News at Ten legend will also open up about his emigration from his homeland of Trinidad. Sir Trevor's appearance will air on February 26 over on More4. Although Sir Trevor previously retired in 2005, he returned to screens just two years later.

Nowadays, the star only presents ITV specials but is still retired. At the height of his career, it's believed he earned a whopping £600,00 per year for his work at ITV. He was also the host of the channel's popular flagship current affairs programme called Tonight with Trevor McDonald from 1999 to 2007.

He has also been the face of a number of hard-hitting documentaries over the years which have gripped the audience and was knighted in 1999 for his services to journalism. In October 2023, he presented Pride of Britain: A Windrush Special for ITV. Other hard-hitting documentaries of his included Fred & Rose West: The Real Story with Trevor McDonald and The Killing of PC Harper: A Wife's Story

But three years ago, he appeared on E4 as the GamesMaster, taking over from the late Sir Patrick Moore. At the time, he said: "I am delighted to be taking on this iconic role for a new generation of viewers." The role had him set up challenges and watch over competitors as they engaged in virtual battles across different games in a bid to win the Golden Joystick Trophy.

He was even a guest presenter on Countdown in 2022 as part of the game show's 40th anniversary. The legendary journalist earned many awards throughout his career. He holds honorary degrees from the University of Plymouth and Liverpool John Moores University. He was also appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire in the 1992 New Year Honours list. Trevor was also awarded a BAFTA fellowship at the 2011 event.
