Austin Butler took to the Critics' Choice Awards red carpet in an all-black outfit just days after the death of Lisa Marie Presley.

The actor, 31, portrayed the star's dad in the biopic Elvis and won rave reviews from Lisa Marie following its release.

He won a Golden Globe Award for his efforts last week, thanking the Presley family in his emotional speech. He said: "The Presley family, thank you guys for opening your hearts, your memories, your home to me. Lisa Marie and Priscilla, I love you forever."

The mother-and-daughter duo were clearly touched by his words, looking visibly emotional. However, just days later, Lisa Marie tragically died at the age of 54.

Austin was up for the Best Actor at the awards at the Fairmont Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles and turned up in a black suit and black shirt combo. He added a thin gold necklace which he showed off as he kept his shirt undone.

He was joined by the movie's director Baz Luhrmann as the movie was also nominated for Best Picture.

Lisa Marie Presley had been a huge supporter of the production, praising both Austin and Baz on a number of occasions.

Shortly before the film was released, Lisa Marie gushed that Austin had been able to "channel" her dad in his performance.

Speaking to EW in a special documentary about the film, she said: "It's almost as if he channeled him. He put everything he had, his heart, his soul, everything he had into researching, reading, watching, learning. He honoured him in every way possible."

And she doubled down on her comments on social media shortly after. Taking to Instagram in May last year, she wrote: "If Butler does not win an Oscar for the role, I will eat my own foot.

"You can feel and witness Baz's pure love, care, and respect for my father throughout this beautiful film, and it is finally something that myself and my children and their children can be proud of forever."
