Liverpool have vowed to ban any supporter for life if they are caught reselling tickets for the Carabao Cup final online.

In a statement to fans ahead of Sunday week’s meeting with Chelsea at Wembley, Liverpool said successful ticket applicants will be sent a digital pass in an attempt to clamp down on scammers selling fakes and touts.

Jurgen Klopp’s side go into the final as favourites as they look to win the competition for a record 10th time. It is a repeat of the 2022 showpiece and the same season's FA Cup final. But the club has reiterated its warning to supporters around ticketing ahead of the match.

In a statement, they said: “Supporters who were successful in purchasing Carabao Cup final tickets for the clash with Chelsea at Wembley on Sunday February 25 are reminded they will receive their ticket in the form of a digital pass during the week of the final.

“This will be distributed to fans via club email and is the only way supporters will receive official LFC general admission tickets for this fixture. There will be no official LFC general admission tickets in circulation ahead of the week of the final, so please beware of any fake tickets.

“Liverpool FC reiterates its call for supporters to only purchase tickets for the Carabao Cup final from the club, as it is the only official seller of LFC general admission tickets for this game.

“Fans should be aware of the risks of buying fake tickets from third-party websites or unofficial sellers, and the real possibility of being refused entry into Wembley Stadium. If supporters do purchase tickets from unofficial sellers, the club will not be in a position to help if they are refused entry.”

And Liverpool are urging fans aware of touting to make an anonymous report via their website with a promise to ban any fan attempting to resell tickets online.

“All LFC general admission tickets are strictly non-transferable and are not available to distribute to other supporters. If any supporter is offered tickets, or is aware of tickets being offered for sale, they can report this anonymously [on the club’s website].

“All reports of ticket touting, or online ticket fraud, will be investigated in line with the club's sanctions process. If a supporter has been found to have offered a ticket for sale online, this could result in a lifetime ban for that individual.”
