A newly wed has recounted how a stand-in guest ended up coming to her wedding wearing a white dress that also had a short train, ended up getting drunk then getting off with one of the other guests. The fuming bride said she had invited a woman who she refers to as Tam* to accompany her husband's best female friend as she didn't know that many people at the event.

However, the bride told fellow users of Reddit that Tam arrived late and was wearing a white lace dress, which encouraged the bride's sister to suggest that the 30-year-old should be told to leave. But the dress blunder was only the beginning of Tam's poor behaviour, as she then proceeded to get drunk and make out with one of the bride's best friends.

The 30-year-old bride said: "Tam decides wearing white isn’t enough tho, she proceeds to get drunk and make out with one of my best friends (male, 31, let’s call him Sam*). This would have been fine had she not been in a white serpentine gown… Because it was dark and people were tipsy, some guests thought it was me and Sam making out!" She explained that her 32-year-old husband was informed but he knew where she was and explained the confusion.

She said that the following day she got calls and texts asking who the tacky guest in white was. She thought about covering for the annoying guest but decided against it, adding: "She wore white, why would she be shy about it? Now, every time someone asks about it I give them the detailed story of how she wore white, was just a plus one, got drunk and made out with a stranger.

"I still get questions from some acquaintances about the girl who wore white to my wedding. I happily share the story and even show pictures if I have the time. Oh yeah, she insists it was light pink. It was white. Even my mother-in-law asked about her! So to any wedding guest considering white just don’t (unless it’s an all-white party). You will be the centre of unflattering gossip for months and maybe even years to come."

Other users of the site said they agreed with the bride being angry at her guest's behaviour, with one saying: "Our goal for the wedding is to support the bride and groom and there is literally a rainbow of colours to choose from, just avoid anything white-adjacent! And another said: "The makeout session would have made me lose my mind. Glad your husband wasn't fooled," and a third said: "God this cracked me up that people were confused wondering why the bride was making out with someone who was not the groom. I'm glad it didn't blow up at least into a big dramatic scene on your special day, she sounds like she's short a few brain cells."
