Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu has said that she "wouldn't backstab a partner," making the remark just days after announcing her split from Davide Sanclimenti and him hitting out over it.

The reality TV star, 29 - who rose to fame on Love Island - shared her thoughts on relationships whilst promoting the second series of the Traitors US last week. She joined some of her co-stars from the Peacock show in New York City.

Footage from one of her interviews whilst on the trip has been uploaded to social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok this week. The clips show Ekin-Su addressing the prospect of being "backstabbed" and "hall passes".

Ekin-Su and some of her co-stars from the latest series of the Traitors US were interviewed for the podcast We Met At Acme whilst in the city. She was asked a couple of different questions, appearing in various posts this week.

The podcast's host Lindsey Metselaar, 32, asked the guest: "In the spirit of Traitors, would you rather be backstabbed by a partner or backstab them?" Ekin-Su responded to the question by commenting: "Backstabbed by the partner."

Lindsey attempted to clarify the reason for the response, suggesting to the reality TV star: "Because it just means you're the better person?" Ekin-Su subsequently replied to the suggestion: "Well, I just wouldn't backstab my partner."

Following the remark, Lindsey seemingly reference former islander Georgia Steele, who was known to describe herself as "loyal" when she appeared on Love Island in 2018. The podcast host teased: "It's giving loyal. It's giving like Georgia 'I'm loyal babe'." Ekin-Su then commented: "Of course."

During the interview Ekin-Su was also asked about the prospect of having a "hall pass" in a relationship. She was heard saying in a clip shared this week: "What does that mean?" Lindsey went on to explain the concept to her.

She said: "A hall pass is like when you're able to sleep with someone else in your relationship." Lindsey continued in the exchange: "Like let's say you're dating someone and then you have the opportunity to sleep with like Brad Pitt."

Ekin-Su responded: "No, I would never do that. I would never do that. No." Lindsey reacted by telling the guest: "I love that. A moral queen." The former islander was heard saying "always" in response to the remark by the presenter.

The former islander and some of her co-stars were also asked if they would rather be "loved or respected". Sharing her thoughts following the question, Ekin-Su said: "Respected, because love is not always enough."

The interview comes following the announcement that Ekin-Su had split from her partner Davide, whom she met on Love Island back in 2022. The former couple won the eighth series of the ITV2 show but they have since parted ways.

The news was shared by Ekin-Su in a statement last month on social media. She wrote to her followers: "The last 18 months have been a rollercoaster of ups and downs, just like every relationship. Davide and I both wanted to make this relationship work as we cared deeply for each other."

She continued: "Unfortunately, I have recently made the decision to end our relationship and to go our separate ways. Breakups are never easy for any couple, and we hope that our privacy will be respected at this time. I enjoyed our time together and will cherish the memories we made."

Davide later released his own statement and suggested that Ekin-Su had gone against an agreement to announce their separation together. He suggested that he had been waiting to "respect" his ex's time on the Traitors US.

He wrote: "Life sometimes reserves surprises and suddenly wakes you up... Ekin and I, just after the ski holidays, decided to go different ways. It was a joint decision, but I was waiting to make it public to respect her time in the show. I don't know why the agreed statement changed last minute.

"I agree, it was a beautiful story even with its ups and downs like all couples. I loved every moment, from the first time I knew her in the Villa until life outside. I really believed in us and saw a future for us. But sometimes in life people need to grow apart. Is just the direction of life. I will treasure our moments forever. Now it's time to focus on myself."

The former couple both took the opportunity in their respective posts to express gratitude over their fans. This included Ekin-Su sharing hope that fans would continue to follow their careers as they go off in their "own directions".
