Throughout the year our skin can really be affected by the seasons. In winter, we're met with cold, drying and harsh conditions resulting in a dull, lacklustre complexion and in the summer our worst enemy is the sun, which can cause itching, peeling and redness - and ageing if we don't use ample protection. One of Lookfantastic's pharmacists has just shared her top tips and products for achieving a healthy glow all year round, especially if you're jetting off for some winter sun - and most of them are on sale.

In a video shared to the Lookfantastic Instagram page, the retailer's pharmacist can be seen answering a number of questions posed by fans. The clip was captioned: "Winter skin staples. Our pharmacist, Aruj is on hand to give you her top tips on which skincare products you should add to your routine for a complexion that glows, ALL year long!"

With the majority of products mentioned containing SPF, Aruj began by sharing the item she's most excited to try this winter: Bondi Sands' Hydra UV Protect SPF 50+ Face Gel. The beauty buy has nearly £3 off at £8.24. Speaking about the product, the expert said: "This is a new product and it's like a face gel so it feels very lightweight on the skin and it's also water-based sunscreen, providing you with that protection."

The product is used to give beauty buffs long-lasting moisture to keep the skin looking plump, whilst visibly brightening up the skin over time. Being water-based ensures you won't have a white cast or slippery residue meaning its perfect for those who are more prone to oiliness, unwanted shine and excess sebum.

Secondly, she suggested NUXE Sun High Protection Fondant Cream for Face - a "melting sun cream" that's formulated with broad spectrum and SP50 which'll protect your skin from both UVA and UVB. The ingredients of rice and rosemary offer "cellular protection to help protect against the visible signs of ageing, including dark spots" and an additional bonus is that it doesn't have that clinical, chemical smell being infused with summery scents like sweet orange, tiare flower and vanilla. Costing £22, shoppers have hailed it as a "perfect daily moisturiser" that not only protects but gives the "ultimate glow for dull looking skin".

Aruj continued with a suggestion for the family: "The UltraSun Family High Protection SPF30, now this is a non-comedogenic formula and it's suitable for sensitive skin - so suitable for infants" - and it's water resistant - and £20 at SpaceNK.

For those with more oily complexions and blemish-prone skin she recommended the Eucerin Sun Face Oil Control Sun Gel-Cream Dry Touch and said: "It is perfect for oily, acne-prone skin because it is non-comedogenic, so it won't block your pores."

With £4.75 off, the gel-cream, now £14.25, it a lightweight formula that not only protects your face from the sun, but also uses sebum-regulating Oil Control technology with l-carnitine to provide an anti-shine finish for up to eight hours.

With a 4.71 rating, shoppers "love" this formula because of its quick absorption, glowy finish and blemish-free results. One skincare lover wrote: "I repurchase this every few months because it’s one of the only suncreams I can use on my face that doesn’t clog my skin or break me out. Has a lovely texture and doesn’t feel too oily or too matt. No white cast either! Best suncream I’ve had. Using it consistently has really helped even out my skin tone and it’s probably the best product I’ve used to help improve my skin."

The pharmacist added two other recommendations to her list which are tailored to those with sensitive skin: Lancaster's Sun Perfect Sun Illuminating Cream SPF 50, which is on sale for £28 from £35, and La Roche-Posay's Anthelios UVMune 400 Invisible Fluid SPF50+, now £15 from Lookfantastic or £15.98 at Superdrug.

The former, Aruj remarked, is fragrance-free, paraben-free, and with a nourishing complex, will not only defend the skin against UVB, UVA rays, visible light and infrared rays, but will hydrate it and even out and improve the appearance of dark spots and pigmentation. Those who have purchased this product have claimed it left their skin "illuminated" and praised it for sitting "perfectly" under make-up.
