A guest on GB News left the studio during a heated debate about whether the countryside is racist.

Anti-racism activist Imarn Ayton, was discussing the issue with farmer Gareth Wyn Jones when host Stephen Dixon intervened, saying: "I'll tell you what we like to do on this channel is listen to other people."

Imarn then responded: "OK. So what I'm going to do is I'm going to leave now, because I'm not going to let you speak on behalf of the whole entire channel."

Before walking off set and leaving, she added: "Yeah, I'm going to, don't worry about that. It's a shame that it couldn't have finished a bit more cordial, but it's clear where your allegiances lie." After she walked off, she thanked the hosts: "Thank you very much, Anne and Stephen, that was great." As she continued talking off-set, Stephen remarked: "Unfortunately, your mic is off..."

Host Stephen then said: "Thanks for being here," and co-host Anne Diamond commented: "Well, you won't be back, I can tell you that." Imran retorted: "I definitely won't be Anne, thank you for making it dead clear as to how I was feeling."

The awkward incident took place after a report suggested ethnic minorities feel hesitant to visit green spaces. Anne had introduced the topic, saying: "Think about it, it sounds very woke just like that but maybe you've had experiences with something like that." And this led to the fiery exchange between the two.

During the debate, the farmer who spoke via video link was continuously interrupted by Imran. She went on to say: "You can't speak on lived experiences of black people, so when you say there is no racism, that is from your perspective, with your lived-in experiences as a white man."

The display left Stephen calling for a turn to speak during the heated discussion. "Let me get a word in," Stephen exclaimed. The two guests continued their passionate argument about alleged countryside 'racism' claims, leaving the hosts stunned.

Imran was accused by Gareth of being "close-minded", suggesting she only saw the negative side of things. After trying to share his own views, Imran abruptly left the studio. Following the awkward exchange, GB News viewers took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their reactions.

"Never have I cringed so much while watching a live TV debate," quipped one viewer. "Sorry but if you can't handle the heat, then get out. I have to agree with the farmer here," another shared.

"She had every right to get up and leave. He was making zero sense and he's the one whose small-minded," argued another GB News viewer. While someone else agreed: "She stayed there for far longer than I would have. That's a lot of patience right there."
