Carlo Ancelotti has hinted that Real Madrid may not need to sign Kylian Mbappe after claiming his side already have the 'six best players in the world'.

Mbappe has been heavily linked with a move to Santiago Bernabeu when his Paris Saint-Germain contract expires at the end of the season. Real are the frontrunners to secure his signature, though it has been reported that the Spanish club are having issues with his agent and mother Fayza Lamari.

It's claimed that the two partiers are 'far apart' on agreeing a deal for Mbappe, who is demanding an eye-watering £60million per season to join Los Blancos. This could prove to be a significant problem in Real's pursuit as they try and sign the French forward - two years since he famously U-Turned on a switch to Madrid.

However, speaking after Real's 4-0 drubbing of Girona, Ancelotti appeared to suggest that they do not need to bring in the 25-year-old. He said: "You keep asking about a player who plays for another team."

Ancelotti added: "We already have the best players in the world here. In order: Vini Jr first, [Jude] Bellingham second, Rodrygo third. Then [Toni] Kroos, [Federico] Valverde, [Eduardo] Camavinga…"

Victory for Real moves them five points ahead of Girona at the top of the La Liga table. Jude Bellingham continued his excellent season with a brace, while Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo also found the net.

When asked about the win, Ancelotti said: "It was our best performance. A really complete display in every sense: defensively and going forward. It was a humble approach given the demands placed on us by the problems we had, and the crisis only boosted the team's defensive efforts.

"The strength of this team is how their commitment and attitude rise to match the demands of the game. Quality is the most important thing but if you can combine it with the right attitude and commitment, like we did today, you get a top-level performance."

As for Mbappe, there is still growing confidence that a deal can be struck for the forward, despite his heightened demands. But Ancelotti's comments might open the door for Liverpool to swoop in, even though it was reported that the Reds and Arsenal will not hijack Real's proposed move.

Mbappe has scored 30 goals in 29 appearances this season but didn't feature for PSG against Brest on Sunday after picking up an ankle injury. Outlining why the France international did not feature, PSG manager Luis Enrique explained: "Kylian Mbappe is physically doing very well. Of course, we didn’t want to take any risks because we didn't need to. If this had been a final, he certainly would have played."
