The Traitors icon Diane Carson has reportedly landed a new role on Celebrity MasterChef after recently rising to fame on the BBC programme.

Diane, 63, who signed up for the BBC show with her son Ross, quickly became a firm favourite since the popular programme hit our screens last month. Since finding fame, Diane has become the mother of the nation - not to mention an accidental ambassador for fizzy rosé.

The retired teacher is seemingly returning to our screens, but this time to show off her cooking skills. It has been reported that the star will be appearing on Celebrity MasterChef to hopefully impress judges Gregg Wallace and John Torode. The series usually airs in late summer on BBC One.

"Diane was one of the most popular people to take part in the show," a source recently said.

Speaking to The Sun, the insider continued: "Traitors fans will be delighted she's making an appearance in another BBC prime-time show, and will get the chance to prove she's not the kitchen disaster her son claims she is." The source referenced her son Ross' previous comments on her cooking.

He one said that she couldn't cook a Sunday roast without 'cremating' it. Diane was busy with several television appearances (like This Morning) since exiting The Traitors. There have even been calls for her to front the Irish equivalent of The Traitors. The format is in development after a Dublin-based independent production company optioned the show amid hopes it'll be commissioned.

However, Diane would rather have her own cooking show with a homely and inviting setting to serve Sunday roasts to celebrity guests. Giving the idea of Strictly Come Dancing a firm no, Diane told the Guardian: "I'm sort of thinking about Sunday roasts with celebs. How good would that be? My Sunday roasts are delicious and we could just discuss the issues of the world."

During one episode of the show, Ross teased Diane about her cooking. As the players were sat around enjoying their meal that Diane had made, Ross said: "That's incredible." Diane replied: "Have you not had Sunday roasts before?" To which her son said: "No, my mum always makes, like, not the best ones." Shaking her head, his mum responded: "Well, you'll have to come to my house then." "I'd love to if it's as good as this one," he then remarked.

She previously revealed she applied to the show on a whim, and never thought she would be chosen. She kept it secret from her family and her husband only found out accidentally.
