Kerry Godliman has appeared in a number of acclaimed projects over the years and also enjoyed a career as a stand-up comedian, featuring on various panel TV shows.

The actor, 49, is best known for starring alongside pal Ricky Gervais in shows like Channel 4's Derek and Netflix's After Life. She worked with Jack Dee on ITV's Bad Move and plays the lead role in AcornTV's crime drama Whitstable Pearl.

Her latest role is as Sonya Reeves in Trigger Point, having made her debut in the first season in 2022. Amid her return for the crime thriller's second season, which launched last month, the Mirror has taken a look at Kerry's life off-screen.

Kerry is understood to live in London with her husband Ben Abell and their two children. The couple are parents to Elsie, 16, and Frank, 13. She has teased about parenthood and family life in her stand-up routines over the years.

Her husband is an actor himself and has appeared in BBC shows such as Doctors, Sherlock and Luther. He also had a role in Netflix's Sandman and his film credits include the Snowman (2017), which starred Michael Fassbender.

Their family is understood to also include a cat and dog Molly. Kerry teased on ITV's Lorraine in 2022: "[My cat] can speak it's language. It definitely says 'hello' in our language. It distinctly says 'hello'. You'll have to take my word for it."

Kerry is said to have acquired the nickname "bosh" whilst on Channel 4's Taskmaster, due to her approach to the tasks. She once said: "I just got in [and] cracked on. [But] I realised that sort of approach to life isn't brilliant with parenting or romance or things that require a little more nuisance." It's understood to have inspired her last stand-up tour Bosh.

She even teased about "boshing" to the Independent in 2022: "When I got married, I was practically running down the aisle. I just want to crack on with it. But it's an approach to life that doesn't offer much opportunity for reflection."

Kerry has spoken about what she likes to get up to in her spare time over the years. The actor is understood to be a keen gardener and shared on an episode of her Memory Lane podcast just last year: "I like a bit of gardening."

She's been known to post about her garden on Instagram. Last year, alongside a photo that showed various plants, she wrote: "Most of these grown from seed this year. Unbelievable feelings of achievement." During her appearance on Lorraine in 2022, Kerry shared that she also enjoys cold water swimming. She said: "I do quite a lot of that. You feel amazing all day. It's a real challenge to get in but once you overcome that fear, you feel very powerful. You feel like you could do anything."

She's also posted on social media about going out and about, like when she attended Glastonbury last year. After sharing photos from the festival, she said: "Had a few messages saying how jealous people are about [me going]."

Kerry continued at the time: "I can't stand the feelings of FOMO that social media can create. It's worth pointing out that although I had a mostly lovely weekend and feel very lucky I also cried, felt pretty overwhelmed and had a few low moments too. We just don't usually post that stuff."

She's understood to also enjoy travelling, telling the Times in 2020 that she developed "proper wanderlust" as a child when her parents would take her on holidays to various countries. She teased at the time: "I could happily move to a Greek island and be on holiday for the rest of my life."

And she's understood to be a supporter of St. Mungo's. Kerry has promoted initiatives run by the homelessness charity over the years, with the organisation having said about her just last year: "Kerry is a loyal supporter of our work and has helped to raise awareness of what we do."

Earlier this year, Kerry also gave an insight into what goes into being an actor. Discussing her role on Trigger Point, she's teased that her character presents a challenge when it comes to learning the scripts because of the vocabulary.

She's quoted in an issue of the Daily Star saying: "Because of what my character does for a job, I speak in all manner of jargon on the show. There are a lot of acronyms." Kerry went on to tease: "I don't quite know what I'm saying."

The actor said: "In the first series I practically spoke in the periodic table, so it was very mysterious what I was saying." She added that she spends time going over her lines until they are memorised, saying in the recent interview: "You just have to go over and over them until you know them."
