Masked Singer fans all say same thing about Lorraine Kelly stint as guest judge

Lorraine Kelly made a surprise return to The Masked Singer last night, just a fortnight after she was revealed as Owl.

The 64-year-old was back on the show as the judging panel's "guest detective", joining regulars Davina McCall, Jonathan Ross, Rita Ora and Mo Gilligan. She dressed up for the occasion, wowing viewers in a stunning purple organza gown.

Fans were thrilled to see Lorraine back on the show - and on TV at a more accessible time than her usual 9am daytime slot. After she posted a photo of herself with the judges and host Joel Dommett on Instagram, the comments quickly filled up with kind remarks about her stint on the other side of the stage and how glam she looked.

They included: "Loved you being on the panel last night!! Such an incredible show. You looked absolutely stunning", "What a gorgeous dress Lorraine very flattering you look absolutely beautiful" and "Well done Lorraine u was amazing love your dress."

When Lorraine was revealed as Owl, Joel commented that it was one of the greatest unmaskings on the show's history - and it definitely ruffled plenty of feathers. Lorraine later shared a video to Instagram praising people who had guessed correctly.

She said: "Hi there, yes, it was me, I was Owl on The Masked Singer, congratulations if you guessed it. One of the clues, of course, was about Dundee United. I'm right here at Tannadice Park, a lot of you got the clue about the tangerines. So well done if you did!"

Lorraine's 530K followers and celebrity pals were quick to respond. Carol Vorderman wrote: "You were absolutely brilliant....I didn't even guess it was you...that's how c**p I am" with a laughing emoji, while Christine Lampard put a series of clapping and owl emojis while host Joel added: "You were INCREDIBLE!" with heart emojis.

It comes as the legendary presenter said after her reveal: "I've loved being Owl, I've loved every single second, the show is so joyful." Talking about why she signed up, she admitted: "I just wanted to have a bit of fun to kick off the year and to be a bit silly. I've never had a chance to sing in front of an audience before, and I thought if I was behind a mask it wouldn't be as scary."

Lorraine admitted she was shocked the judges didn't pick up on her Scottish accent, she said: "I was astounded that the panel didn't get me right away because I thought they would hear my Scottish accent. I worked really quite hard to try and not be too Scottish, but I thought they would get me right away, and I thought it was hilarious who they were saying. It was really funny. I was really pleased that they didn't get me."
