Man finds spider the size of crab in garage - and creature now 'owns the place'
A man found a spider the size of crab in his garage, and says the creature now "owns the place".
Jason Skimming, owner of Caledonia Vehicle Solutions in Ayrshire, Scotland, couldn't believe his eyes when he saw the huge creature wandering into his business premises. He captured the beast on his phone and later shared it on Facebook, where it horrified users. Jason captioned his post: "This guy has just appeared at the garage...he now owns the place as I've ran away." The eight-legged insect appears to be covered in fur and certainly doesn't look like an average house spider.
He added: "When I first saw it, I honestly thought it was a crab as it was so big. But when I looked closer I was like 'Oh my god, it's a bloody spider', I honestly couldn't believe it. There were three of us standing around it and normally we would just stand on a spider, but we didn't dare go near this one. It didn't look like it belonged in this country, I have never seen one like it before."
The spider was seen walking into Jason's workspace (Jam Press)Social media users came out in droves to crack jokes about the abnormally-sized insect. One person wrote: "Are they tattoos on his legs?? And can I see it carrying a beer and a kebab??" Another user commented: "Someone said you were selling a spider but I thought it was a Ferrari Spider." Another poster added: "Thats a nope from me" while others joked about him being scared of the creature. One person said: "All you men scared oh a wee spider makes me laugh." [sic]
But other people were equally alarmed, Another commented: "Oaft…. Thats worse than the 1 that chased me out the spray booth for killing its husband seconds before, [sic]" said someone else. One person added: "Hope that seen the back end of your shoe that's not bloody normal."

The businessman first thought the spider was a crab (Jam Press)Jason believes that the uninvited guest was a crossweb orbweaver spider. He added: "We left the spider to wander around and no one knows where it is now. I really hope we don't bump into it again, it did leave some of the boys a bit scared. I was also concerned it may be poisonous or something, so yeah, we just left it alone."
Meanwhile, the Mirror told earlier how a schoolboy was rushed to hospital with a temperature and feeling like “his skin would split” after a bite from Britain’s most dangerous spider.
Matthew from Surrey complained to his mum on Christmas Day of discomfort in his leg - but mum Sarah just thought her son had a graze. But two days later, the 11-year-old was "delusional", couldn’t support his own weight, and needed hospital treatment.
Sarah said the family got an unwanted gift at Christmas when Matthew was bitten on the back of the leg by a noble false widow. “He was bitten on Christmas Day night at the back of his leg – his calf," she said. “It wasn't immediately obvious what it was but he said his leg was sore. I looked and it literally looked just like a little graze.

The next day he was unable to walk or weight-bear. He was delusional and had a temperature of 39.7C, his leg was red and cellulitis had began to form. I rushed him to hospital.”
