Kanye West slammed by Taylor Swift fans as 'desperate' as he name drops singer on new album

Kanye West has come under fire by Taylor Swift fans and labelled as "desperate" after a song on his new album name drops the singer.

In his new song 'Carnival' from his new album 'Vultures 1', Kanye makes a claim in the lyrics as he raps that he "made six Taylor Swift". The lyrics don't explicitly point to anything else in particular but are thought to refer to the widely known incident in 2009 where he crashed the stage as a teenage Taylor won a Grammy Award, where Kanye suggested that Beyoncé would have been a more deserving winner.

The two music stars have continued to have altercations over the years including when Kanye referred to her in his song 'Famous' in which he rapped: "I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex. Why? I made that b**** famous." The lyrics were widely criticised with Taylor speaking out publicly over her treatment from Kanye.

Now the latest name drop has seen Swiftie fans come for the Stronger rapper as they label him "desperate" for needing to mention the award winning singer.

Taking to social media on Twitter/X, one Swift fan hit out as they wrote: "Taylor Swift was his target twice and has successfully moved on from both events and thrived. Meanwhile, Kanye feels the need to name drop her everytime he needs clout and attention." Another shared similar as they added: "Says a lot about how desperate he is to be relevant right now." A third shared: "Kanye west still unironically thinking he made taylor swift famous is so.. like if you’re the one using her name in songs TWICE because you’re desperate for attention, i don’t think you’re as relevant as you think you are." A fourth wrote: "Kanye, is the only [person] who’s gonna mention Taylor Swift’s name in an attempt to get relevant again and perhaps a bit famous."

The new album comes after a tumultuous time for Kanye, with fans also being left disappointed as he turned up hours later to an album launch show. Fans, who had paid £240 each for tickets, were left waiting in New York City on Friday night after the rapper failed to appear on time. Due to arrive on stage at 10pm to celebrate the release of his new project with Ty Dolla Sign, Kanye didn't make an appearance until after 11pm.

The event appeared to be a flop, with sources telling The Mirror US the venue was half-empty. They said the event was "scarily and eerily empty" with the stage almost invisible due to the heavy amount of smoke in the air.

During the album listening party, Kanye performed sample of the Backstreet Boys song Everybody (Backstreet's Back). He switched up the lyrics, swapping "Backstreet's back" to "Yeezy's back". Tickets for the listening party were priced at around $300 (£238) each. The event also wasn't listed a full concert from Kanye and was instead marketed as a "listening experience".
