Mum's chilling text from daughter who was 'drugged & raped with pal in Barbados'

A mum has revealed the terrifying moment she got a text from her daughter saying: “We’ve been drugged and raped.”

Frankie King said she received the chilling message from Dongayla Dobson while she was on holiday in the Bahamas with her pal Amber Shearer. She felt there was something wrong with the pair, both 31, a few hours earlier when she spotted a ‘live’ video of them on social media “falling all over the place” after they had disembarked from their cruise ship at the Pirate's Cove Beach Resort, on the island of Grand Bahama.

Frankie said the clip seemed strange as she knew the girls weren’t prone to drinking very much. But the pair now claim their behaviour resulted from their cocktails being spiked a few hours earlier. The Royal Bahama Police Force confirmed that two men, aged 54 and 40, were arrested following the incident.

But the resort has denied the allegations and says they have handed over video evidence to local police and the FBI which disproves this version of events.

Frankie said it was “a parent's worst nightmare” to learn from the women that they believe they were victims of sexual assault. She told Fox News: “It's a parent's worst nightmare. Your child is in trouble, in danger and scared, and they're 300, 500 miles away, or whatever, across the water, and I can't get to them."

“They were on a live video that they just posted or something. They were like falling all over the place. They don't drink a lot, but I've seen both of those girls drunk. I knew there was something else going on. Like something's not quite right, but I couldn't put my finger on it.”

Frankie said Dongayla and Amber, both from Kentucky, had stopped off at the sunshine island after they departed from their Carnival Cruises ship on February 1 this year. And while they were collecting seashells as part of an activity, they allege they were drugged by the local men, who were employees of the Pirate's Cove beach resort.

They were later discovered by a housekeeper from the resort unconscious in a bathroom. And a local nurse helped to revive the women and took account of their injuries. They both returned home roughly a day later.

Frankie said the pair were both left distraught when they got back to the US. She told Fox News: “I never imagined how traumatized they actually were until I saw them at the airport. It was like they were children again. They came running into me and jumped on me. I mean, they almost knocked me down.”

Pirate's Cove Beach Resort later issued a statement denying the women’s claim that they had been drugged and sexually assaulted. In a statement released on February 7, the management of Pirates Cove said: "Upon further review of the surveillance videos, the allegations made on site, and in subsequent social media posts and news stories, conflict with what the time-stamped surveillance videos contain."

The statement continued: "As such, the lengthy videos of all concerned have been handed over to the local police and will be shared with our industry partners as needed." Pirate's Cove Beach Resort and Carnival Cruises have both been approached for further comment.
