At the age of 76 Brian May could be forgiven for feeling a little coy about his physique.

But it looks as though the legendary guitarist of rock band Queen, was proud to show off his toned torso as he stripped off to start a workout in his hotel room. And he also decided to take fans along with him as he posted a video of himself in his hotel room in Sappro, Japan ahead of his concert. Alongside the video, which was accompanied by the Queen song Seven Seas of Rhye, Brian wrote: "My private gym! Not so glamorous but - job done! 8 peaks this time - day off - show time tomorrow in Sapporo.

He added: "Sporting my Polar heart rate monitor strapped around me - which connects to the app on my phone to give me a trace of my BPM during such escapades. Fitness Rocks! Bri." Another added: "I'm not gonna say anything because my friend will probably see what I’ll comment, but he looks handsome."

Another penned: "Thirst trap at its finest, Bri!" Meanwhile, one excited fan typed: "Dearest Bri, your motivation to keep your fitness up is incredibly inspiring. And can I just say that you sure look a thousand times more glamorous than me during a workout!! The skyline is definitely not the only gorgeous view in your post… " In the video, Brian is seen smiling to the camera and then turns it round to show off his amazing high-rise view of the city.

And understandably fans were quick to comment. One fan said: "Best view for gym." Another wrote: "Go Bri go. Japan is always beautiful." And a third said: "Fitness rocks Bri!" Brian's enthusiasm for keeping fit comes after he revealed that he has been suffering from a "strange persistent condition" since contracting Covid-19 in 2021, while at a social gathering.

In May 2022, Brian claimed that since he fell ill he had been suffering from "brown outs" which causes a person to suddenly fall asleep. Speaking on the How Do You Cope podcast, the dad-of-three said: "I have a strange persisting condition, I think from the Covid, which are kind of brown-outs. Generally, I'm OK I'm not tired all the time, but I'll get to a certain point in the day where something inside my head goes, 'You have to sleep now. You don't care about any of this, go to sleep - who cares'."

He added: "It's an almost irresistible call and I just go out like a light. It's really weird." But as an artist who still performs live, this condition could prove incredibly problematic. He continued: "I just hope it doesn't happen in the middle of a gig because it's going to be very embarrassing - 'Just hang on for half an hour while I have a nap, guys - then we'll do We Are The Champions'.But I feel good, I don't know if it's changed me."

Queen became one of the most legendary rock bands since it formed in 1970 and consisted of Brian as the lead guitarist, Freddie Mercury as the lead vocals and Roger Taylor on drums. They were later joined by bassist John Deacon. Freddie Mercury passed away in 1991 from health complications caused by HIV, at the age of 45. And last September Brian wrote a touching tribute to Freddie on what would have been his 77th birthday.

Brian posted a throwback picture of him and Freddie on stage and taking to Instagram, he wrote: "Inescapably thinking so much about Freddie in these strange days. At the time this photo was taken I’m sure it didn’t seem very important to see Freddie’s fingers dancing on my own homemade guitar. Now it summons up waves of affection and great memories. He is so missed.”

Freddie's personal belongings were at the time being auctioned and Brian claimed he found that difficult to process. He continued: "Tomorrow while I’m speaking passionately to Welsh farmers about cows and badgers and bovine TB, Freddie’s most intimate personal effects, and writings that were part of what we shared for so many years, will go under the hammer, to be knocked down to the highest bidder and dispersed forever.”
