Rodri makes title vow to Liverpool and Arsenal and says City won't stop there

Rodri has warned the rest of the Premier League that Manchester City have got their sights set on making history.

‌And ominously, Rodri says City are determined not just to win a historic fourth consecutive title, but they want to repeat the Treble. And he says they can get even better. City face Everton on Saturday looking for their tenth straight win in all competitions and know that no team has ever won four titles in a row before.

‌Rodri said: “We need to find new goals. We can achieve history this year in the way we can achieve four in a row. The players really feel that they want to do something that no-one has ever done before. That’s the thing. Individually, you think: ‘I want to do this. I want to do it again.’ Because the feeling when you win is great and you still have the team saying: ‘We can go for more.’

‌“We know how tough it is to win (The Treble). But we can do it again. We are alive in all of the competitions. We won at Tottenham in the FA Cup which is one of those grounds where we never won. The Champions League is still a long way but we’re still there. The Premier League is still there and we’re fighting. That’s what we want, to be there in May and April and to be there for everything.”

‌Rodri is convinced that City - despite winning five trophies in the past 12 months and the Treble last season - can still improve. And the key to their success is having Pep Guardiola as manager to drive them on and inspire the younger players and the next generation of City players who want to become legends like Kevin De Bruyne and Kyle Walker.

‌Rodri added: “You see Phil Foden? How old is Phil Foden? The new players like Jeremy Doku, Matheus Nunes, Mateo Kovacic is older, but you see younger players like Rico Lewis, Oscar Bobb. You see players like Kevin, Kyle and they have had ten or 15 years of football and still they have more football in them.

‌“He (Pep) is great at finding the way to motivate you, he’s so great at that and when you don’t perform well, he’s like: ‘I don’t like this, I don’t like it.’ He’s the first thing that doesn’t allow you and we just switch on.

‌“I am still young! But with these players, like Rico Lewis, they make you feel like you’re not young but I still have a lot of potential to grow and this is something I have shown since I signed for City.

‌“My vision for every year until now has been to get better so it’s something I want until the last day until I retire. That would be in my mind to be better every day.”
