A fundraiser has been set up for the family who were victims of the Clapham chemical attack.

On January 31, Abdul Ezedi is alleged to have doused a woman and her two daughters with a corrosive substance in south London, police have said.

Now, in an effort to help them "rebuild their lives", close friends of the mum and two daughters are trying to raise £50,000. This comes as armed police raided a pizza restaurant in search of Ezedi - 300 miles from the scene of the attack.

In the GoFundMe, which has raised almost £7,000 so far, a close friend said: "Our very dear friend, a generous, sweet, loving mother and her two small daughters were recently the victims of a brutal chemical attack in Clapham. This attack has changed the lives of this wonderful little family forever.

"At what is clearly a shocking and terrible time, we simply hope that their burden of trauma is not added to by financial worries. We desperately want them to have a safe and secure future with the things they need to rebuild their lives and recover from this most horrifying attack. Anything you could spare to help would be most gratefully received.

"Finally, a note of thanks to the neighbours on Lessar Avenue. We are overwhelmed by your bravery and kindness and thank you from the bottom of our hearts for everything you did to save our friend and her daughters. You are angels in our eyes."

Since, Ezedi, who is being hunted by police, has vanished, and despite the prolific scarring on his face has not yet been found by officers despite the ongoing manhunt.

The 31-year-old’s relationship with the woman had broken down, police said. Ezedi had travelled from Newcastle that day to meet with the woman, and the attack is believed to have taken place inside Ezedi’s car, injuring him too and several others who came to help. A £20,000 reward has been issued by the Metropolitan police for information leading to Ezedi’s arrest.

Commander Jon Savell said: "Our investigation team has been working tirelessly to piece together information to discover what happened. While we still retain an open mind, it appears the motivation for this truly awful attack is the breakdown of a relationship.

"The woman remains in a critical but stable condition in hospital. As we know she has very serious injuries and remains sedated and so poorly we haven’t yet been able to speak to her.

"This was a senseless and cruel attack by a dangerous man – we urge anyone with information about Ezedi’s whereabouts to contact us as matter of urgency. He is wanted for attempted murder."
