Katie Price has been offered £5,000 by an animal welfare charity to stop owning pets after several of her animals died.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) said they would give the cash to the mum-of-five if she signs a legal agreement promising not to buy another pet.

In recent years, at least seven of Katie's pets have died, including three dogs. Last month, the 45-year-old reportedly gave away her latest puppy, Tank, because "it doesn't look cute on Instagram" and replaced it with a Sphynx kitten.

PETA criticised Katie in 2023 after she appeared to slap Tank off screen during a TikTok live broadcast. During the alleged incident, viewers claimed they heard a "smack". Katie was heard saying: "Get off! You're sitting on my jumpers, my love jumpers that I love. Get off. It's hectic in here."

PETA's Vice President Elisa Allen wrote to Katie: "While your intentions may be good, the ever-growing number of animals who have either died under your supervision or been given away is impossible to ignore, and people are rightly concerned. Whatever you may offer as reasons for their suffering, relinquishment, or demise, the fact is that you are consistently harming these sensitive, sentient individuals, and I hope you agree that this is a solution."

The letter said that if Katie signed the agreement, her fans would cheer and it would show she cares about animals.

Katie has experienced much loss and sadness with pets before. Her French bulldog Rolo died in an accident at home in July 2020, and her Alsatian Sparkle was hit by a car after getting out. One of her horses also died on the same road in 2017.

In 2018, Katie told her Instagram followers that her German Shepherd Queenie had died. She wrote: "I'm absolutely devastated, heartbroken, my faithful loving family dog's life Queenie has been shortened as she was killed by a heartless delivery driver who ran into our dog seeing her struggle and drove off without telling us and left her to die very disappointed a human being can be this heartless."

Recently, PETA criticised Katie after her guard dog Blade passed away in June. Elisa Allen declared to MailOnline: "After a seventh animal died in her custody, Katie Price should be facing more than the court of public opinion she should face a court of law and be banned for life from keeping animals."

"PETA urges authorities to look into Blade's death and reminds the public that it's not just Price who has blood on her hands. Greedy breeders who keep selling or 'gifting' animals to her are also to blame, as they know full well what the likely outcome will be."

The Mirror has reached out to Katie Price's representatives for comment on this story.
