An elderly woman was 'dragged along the ground' by two out-of-control XL Bullies before they killed her beloved dog on a walk
Two of the dogs latched on to the 70-year-old and attacked her pet in gruesome incident. Freda Jones was "shaken" and "blaming herself" after the horrific attack while walking Guinness, a two-year-old mini Schnauzer on Sunday.
Bradley Ward told how his grandmother was "dragged along the floor" before the family pooch was attacked. It left the woman with an injury on her wrist.
Bradley, 27, said: "She was walking Guinness at around 10am like she does every morning. She heard loud barking from one of the nearby properties before a loud crash saw one of the dogs burst through a fence, with the other following behind. She was dragged along the floor and was completely helpless at that moment."
He said a neighbour rushed out onto the street after hearing the commotion and described how the man "wrestled" the dog to save Freda. Despite being a "big and strong lad" he struggled to fight off the breed due to its sheer size and strength. Guinness was taken straight to the vet and died shortly afterwards after the attack due to puncture wounds from the second XL.

While not in favour of the XL Bully ban, Bradley said that it takes a physically strong person to handle the breed and said owners should be specially trained in order to prevent events like this in future.

Friends from the area have told me that they are now refusing to walk their dogs in the area until they know that the dogs are off the streets.
"Guinness had already died when we picked him up from the vet later that day. He was wrapped in a blanket and I couldn't bring myself to look at him. We've had dogs in the past, mostly Staffies, but when a dog grows old you are normally prepared for the worst - but this was different, it was so sudden and we've still not recovered."
Policereleased a statement following the incident that reads: "We were called to reports of a dog and a woman being injured by another dog in Albert Street, South Normanton at around 10am on Sunday 4 February.
"The dog which was injured later died. The owner of the dog which caused the injuries has been interviewed and enquiries are ongoing. Anyone who has any information which could help with our investigation is asked to contact us quoting the reference 24*71348."
