Thiago Silva's wife, Belle, has apologised for her outburst which seemed to call for a change in Chelsea manager.

Following the Blues' 4-2 defeat to Wolves at Stamford Bridge, the partner of the Brazilian defender posted: "It’s time to change. If you wait any longer it will be too late."

Mauricio Pochettino's position has come under scrutiny in recent days as the Blues dropped to 11th in the table following the loss as the Midlands side recorded a Premier League double. It was also the second time within a week that Silva's side had conceded four goals.

As the west London team prepare for an FA Cup replay against Aston Villa, Belle, whose two sons play in Chelsea's academy, once again took so social media and acknowledged her post from the weekend. She apologised for its impact but noted her hope was simply to see Chelsea win.

Belle said on X: "I'm sorry that my personal outburst as a passionate Chelsea fan has caused such an impact. I'm passionate about the team, I thrive on victories and I'm saddened by defeats. We all want the same thing, a winning team, come on Chelsea!!"

Pochettino revealed in his press conference on Tuesday that Silva had come to see him about the comments. The Blues boss said: "He came today [Tuesday] to talk with me. I am not going to talk about the way we were talking.

"The important thing is he came and wanted to talk with me and of course, you know me after more than 10 years, how I am. We are very strong coaching staff and very strong in our way to operate and the way that we are. he came to talk, we talk and that was private and that is it. Private things for me we keep inside."

Pochettino conceded neither he or is team had been good enough in defeat to Wolves but the 51-year-old is not believed to be under immediate pressure for his job. Chelsea can still qualify for Europe this term and with victory against Aston Villa will remain in the hunt for the FA Cup having already reached the final of the Carabao Cup.

The head coach's inability to utilise his full squad this term has been taken into account in assessing his abilities, as has the team's expected goals performance in early season defeats. However, the continuation of recent performances will add significant pressure.
