Joe Biden appears to forget the name of Hamas in bumbling speech on Israel war
Joe Biden has appeared to forget the name of the Palestinian group Hamas during a press conference.
President Biden, 81, was giving a press conference where he was updating reporters on negotiations between Hamas and Israel to free hostages.
'There is some movement, and I don't wanna, I don't wanna, let me be choose my words - there's some movement. There's been a response from the, uh, there's been a response from the opposition, but um…,' Biden said.

There is a pause during which a reporter can be heard clarifying “Hamas?” from off camera, in reference to Biden’s use of the word “opposition”.

“Yes, I'm sorry. From Hamas,” the president responds before carrying on with the press conference. He had been making the speech to promote the Emergency National Security Supplemental Appropriations Act.

Just days ago at a speech in Las Vegas on Sunday ahead of Nevada’s Democratic presidential primary president Biden has told a crowd that he met with Francois Mitterrand, the French president who died nearly 30 years ago.

"I sat down and I said, ‘America’s back,’" Biden recalled. "And Mitterrand from Germany – I mean from France – looked at me and said…"

Commenting on Biden’s Hamas speech, Sky News' US correspondent Mark Stone said: 'This is a reflection of Biden's age' but added that Donald Trump is also elderly and regularly mixes things up.

The Counsel asked if he prepared a 2021 financial statement in relation to his organisation, to which Trump responded: "I was so busy in the White House, focusing on Russia and China and keeping our country safe" - prompting Counsel to remind him he was not president then.
