Relatives of gangster Marc Webley are to give him a swanky send-off with a plush party after he was gunned down on New Year's Eve.

The 38-year-old was shot and killed outside the Anchor Inn in Edinburgh during Hogmanay celebrations. The shooting has sparked a major murder probe in the capital with four people charged in connection.

Tributes have been paid to Webley from the likes of former girlfriend EuroMillions winner Jane Park, who last year dated the 38-year-old. Now his family have revealed they're planning an all-night party at a posh Edinburgh hotel in his memory.

Sister Rebecca Ramsey shared details of the event at the city's Village Hotel later this month. Posting the bash on Facebook, she wrote: "We would like to invite all of my brother's friends and family to come together and celebrate the life of Marc Webley."

"We will be hosting an event on Wednesday the 28th February from 5pm-1am at The Village Hotel to give him the send off he deserves. We would appreciate it if you could share with friends and family."

The Daily Record previously reported on how murder detectives searched the home of Webley's ex and father of his children, Jodie Steele, on Thursday last week as part of a series of searches in recent weeks. A large police presence was spotted at the 40-year-old's home in Granton, Edinburgh, near to the scene of the New Year's shooting.

Jodie's sister, Nadine Steel, was meanwhile tagged in Ms Ramsey's post. One source told the Record that Jodie's relatives were present at the time of the search, and that she was currently in a relationship with one of Webley's main rivals.

They said: "There were six vans and two CID cars here and police were there for over six hours searching the house. They took away numerous bags. The garden was also searched, as well as the whole property."

They added: "Marc has kids two to Jodie but she is now dating his enemy. I'm not sure where she's been but she has not been seen here. Her family showed up yesterday and they are still at the property."

Gary Robertson, 20, Grant Hunter, 32, and Emma McVie, 25, have all been charged with the murder of Webley and remanded in custody. A 33-year-old woman was also arrested and charged in connection with the incident, but was released pending further enquiries.

Enquiries into Webley's death remain ongoing and there has been an increase in police activity around Edinburgh since his fatal shooting on January 31. Marc Webley was cleared of two attempted murder charges in 2022 after he was accused of trying to ram a vehicle off the road in Edinburgh. In 2016 he was jailed for 11 years at the High Court in Glasgow after he was convicted of being the gunman in a gangland-style ambush on a Kawasaki motorbike.
