Taylor Swift fans believe she was right to blank Celine Dion

Taylor Swift raised eyebrows when she accepted her Grammy Award from Celine Dion and didn't even acknowledge the iconic singer.

She was called out for being rude to Celine who has been facing an extreme health battle - but her fans have now rallied in her support and said she was simply doing the right thing. Taylor, 34, was seen excitedly heading on to the stage to take the award from Celine but failed to even look at the legendary French star instead turning to her team and then heading to the speech podium.

Many suggested it showed a certain degree of arrogance on Taylor's part that she did not even glance in Celine's direction. But her fans have another suggestion - it was simply the right thing to do considering her diagnosis with stiff-person syndrome.

Taking to social media some offered up their reasoning for why Taylor was right. One said: "I'm willing to bet that Taylor was told not to touch Celine Dion. Stiff person syndrome can be triggered by noise, stress, and touch."

Another commented: "Stop this stupid narrative. Taylor hung out with Celine afterwards. Celine also has a painful neurological disease which makes touch very painful." A third fan wrote: "Celine Dion has a medical condition - Taylor couldn't touch her. Also Celine backed away before Taylor could have hugged her."

And a fourth social media user added: "The disease she has is neurological and can be painful for people to touch her. She was probably told before the show not to touch her. " A fifth posted: "She was probably notified ahead of time that Celine is fragile and not to touch her. She has a rare autoimmune disease that causes painful muscle spasms."

Meanwhile, body language expert Judi James defended Taylor, saying she was probably just overwhelmed by the excitement. Speaking exclusively to The Mirror US, she said: "Taylor described herself in her acceptance speech as being 'mind-blown' so that might have also been her reason for failing to greet or acknowledge the evening's other true star and global legend who had battled illness to arrive looking pitch-perfectly glamorous as the night's surprise turn, Celine Dion, as she handed Taylor her award.

"Dion's fans, who must have been three hankies' down by that point, might have been expecting Taylor to perform an elaborate ritual of respect for the woman who was creating hits long before Swift had been heard of. But instead, there is the now viral moment when Taylor arrives on stage, shoulders hunched in disbelief, trying to herd her friends into position and yelling 'Oh my god!' at them, while Celine stands waiting patiently, clutching her award and waiting to present it.

"When Taylor finally steps to physically take the award from Celine's hands she appears to make no acknowledgment of Celine, instead turning her head away from the star to continue gasping in shock at her friends. Celine is left standing unacknowledged when fans might have been expecting some good gush from Taylor."
