A retinal night serum that has been hailed for reducing the signs of ageing in a matter of uses has been slashed in price by £20, making it £46.46. The Crystal Retinal serum in strength six from science- and dermatologist-backed brand Medik8, whose mission is to 'demystify anti-ageing skincare', is an 'age-defying' night serum enriched with vitamin A that increases the skin's firmness and hydration while minimising wrinkles and hyperpigmentation.

Usually costing £66 on the Medik8 site, global reverred cosmetic brand Sephora has knocked 30 per cent of the serum in its sale, which is perfect for those wishing to stock up on their favourite 'miracle worker' - or give it a try - without quite breaking the bank (perfect for those skincare lovers this Valentine's Day...).

Containing key anti-ageing ingredients like retinaldehyde - which works up to 11 times faster than standard retinol - hyaluronic acid, vitamin E and glycerin, this product works through the night, after putting it on during your nighttime routine followed by moisturiser, to leave you waking up with radiant and youthful skin.

Its reputation for achieving incredible results is proven in the abundant five-star reviews beauty buffs have left of the product, with many citing it as a 'little miracle' in helping the appearance of sun spots, pores, redness and fine lines.

One said: "Coming to my big 40th decided to treat myself with the crystal retinal, best thing I ever did, wish I done it before. My skin is glowing, I had so many sunspots and they are all very clear, my open pores I can see they are more close. I hardly have to wear a lot makeup because the skin is clear. Definitely recommend 100% you will love it."

Another added how it was anti-ageing 'magic in a tube' and said: "I’ve used this for some time now originally starting with crystal retinal 3 and now using strength 10. People always comment on how well and glowing my skin looks - I believe it’s all down to the magic of Retinal!"

A third, who remarked the serum was 'turning back time' said: "I purchased #3 strength. AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME, wrinkles around my mouth and forehead have faded greatly. The product HASN'T bothered my skin since I use as directed. I am very pleased with the result."

One shopper also shared that as a result of using the product, her confidence has sky-rocketed with it being an 'acne saver'. They said: "I’ve been on lymecycline for the past year for cystic spots on my chin and general breakouts, even when taking this I suffered from monthly breakouts (it was hormone acne that I got when I turned 19). I came off this medicine after bad side effects and was wary of more medicine, so at a dermatologist’s recommendation I tried this. It is a miracle worker.

"For the first time in 3 years the breakouts on my chin have relaxed and the rest of my skin is glowing, it’s even reducing the scars. If I do get a spot, it lasts for 2 days max which is nothing compared to the 3 week span they used to reside in clusters on my chin/jaw. I really can’t recommend this more, especially if you’re suffering with breakouts. Not only does the rest of my skin look fantastic, but I can finally not be worried about those horrible breakouts, my confidence has skyrocketed."

Although many people love the results this serum provides regarding wrinkles, fine lines, acne scarring and even stretch marks - alongside leaving a hydrating glow, as with many skin-care products, some didn't have a positive reaction with one citing on Medik8's website that it 'broke me out'. For others, the issue lay in the pump ceasing to work after a few uses.

The Crystal Retinal - not retinol - serum has a ladder of five strengths to ease shoppers into the ingredient - one to 20 increasing in retinalehyde, from 0.01 - 0.2%. This particular serum on offer is for the strength six. For those with sensitive skin, it's recommended to start at one 0.01%. And for more acclimatised vitamin A users, number six is recommended to start with.

While £46.46 down from £66 is an incredible bargain for Medik8 lovers, we are well aware that it's still not the cheapest product out there which offers similar results. One alternative product offering results equally as impressive is RoC Retinol Correxion Wrinkle Correct Night Cream, which is now on sale at Boots for £22.10, saving £10.89. Another contender is NIVEA Q10 Power Anti-Wrinkle Firming Night Cream, costing only £12.95 at Superdrug. The product has been praised for leaving "skin soft smooth and wrinkly free after one week".
