After almost a decade-long hiatus, the sequel to Helldivers is set to arrive simultaneously on PS5 and PC later this week. Here’s exactly when the Helldivers 2 release time will be.

If you’re into gunning down giant bugs, calling down giant machinery from orbit, and probably getting your teammates killed in the process, Helldivers 2 is no doubt on your radar. As one of 2024’s first big live service shooters, it offers players on both PS5 and PC the opportunity to fight in the name of freedom amidst a tongue-in-cheek tone that sees you traverse a hostile galaxy. The Helldivers 2 release time is almost upon us, so you’ll want to know when you can get started.

For those unaware Helldivers 2 is a third-person cooperative Sci-Fi shooter where it’s your job to rid the universe of the ensuing giant bug infestation. Aside from the already pre-existing Destiny 2, it marks PlayStation’s first big bet on entering the live service space with a first-party title, which no doubt has a bigger responsibility to bear since Naughty Dog revealed in an update last December that The Last of Us Part 2 multiplayer spin-off was cancelled.

Helldivers 2 release time – here’s when players can jump in

The Helldivers 2 release time will be 9AM BST / 4AM EST / 1AM PST on February 8, 2024 . That’s according to an infographic posted from the official @Helldivers2 Twitter account, which makes explicit mention that these times are for both PS5 and PC simultaneously.

Up to four players will be able to team up in Helldivers 2 to form a squad. It being an online game, though, means that a PS Plus subscription will be required to play for those on PS5. PlayStation also confirmed in a blog post last month that PC and PS5 players will be “armed with crossplay”, meaning it shouldn’t be too hard to match with people online during the week of launch and hopefully beyond.

Helldivers 2 is also notable for being the first simultaneous launch of a Sony-published game on a PlayStation and PC. Previous titles such as The Last of Us Part 1, God of War, and Marvel’s Spider-Man launched on Steam months after, of course, but this marks a totally new strategy from what we’ve seen.
