Michael Olise could be out for months after perplexing Roy Hodgson call
Michael Olise is facing a minimum of two months on the sidelines after re-aggravating a hamstring injury in Crystal Palace's chastening 4-1 loss against Brighton at the weekend.
The Eagles winger, 22, had only recently made his return from a different hamstring issue and limped off at the end of the 3-2 win against relegation rivals Sheffield United as a result of discomfort in his hamstring.
That didn't deter Roy Hodgson from utilising the former Reading man in Saturday's showdown with Brighton with Palace 3-0 down at the break - but the former Reading star lasted just 11 minutes before pulling up and signalling that he needed to come off.
A new report from The Mail has now outlined that Olise will now be out for at least six to eight weeks as a result of the injury he sustained at the Amex. However, the report goes on to note that Olise could be absent for longer depending on how his rehabilitation goes.
The news will come as a bitter blow to Palace, who have plummeted towards the relegation zone in recent weeks. The beleaguered south London outfit also lost defender Marc Guehi to injury during the same match while Eberechi Eze - another key player - suffered a muscle tear in the match against Sheffield United.
Chelsea complete record-breaking Enzo Fernandez transfer after deadline day rushPalace's recent form has only increased the pressure on Hodgson and fans vented their frustrations with both him and the club hierarchy during their drubbing on the south coast.
Hodgson's decision to use Olise despite concerns over his fitness led to further criticism, but the 76-year-old insisted that he had been given the green light to play the reported Manchester United target from the Eagles' medical team.

Speaking post-match, Hodgson said: "I was told that he couldn’t start the game and I was quite comfortable with that. They told me - and he told me - that he was fine to be on the bench and to play in the second half.
"Unfortunately I wasn’t to know that was going to lead to a recurrence of his injury. That’s exactly what we did. You can say, ‘You were losing 3-0, why put one of your better players on?’ But it’s because we bought him all the way here to be on the field in the second half."
Crystal Palace, who are now just five points clear of the relegation zone, host London rivals Chelsea at Selhurst Park next Monday.
