In a twist that has Chicago Bears fans on the edge of their seats, Caleb Williams has dropped hints about his preferences for the upcoming NFL Draft.

Williams has posted supportive comments about the newest hiring at Washington Commanders', his former coach Kliff Kingsbury. Although the Bears hold the first pick and could select Williams, there's whisperings he might not be keen to play for them - particularly as his hometown team Washington comes in with the second pick.

In an interesting development, Kingsbury, who used to coach Williams, is joining Washington. Williams reacted to the news on Instagram by writing: "My dawg congrats". This latest development has Bears supporters fearing that Williams may indeed favour Washington.

Fox Sports' Colin Cowherd added fuel to the fire by suggesting that Williams didn't want to join the Bears, and predicted Washington might make a move. However, it seems everything is still in the balance as Cowherd also reported that Williams team said he would play for the Bears if chosen first.

The Bears already have Justin Fields as their quarterback and haven't hinted at moving him this offseason. This could mean Williams might have to sit out for a season.

Despite Fields showing promise in the last two seasons, he's had some difficulties as a pocket passer and is considered one of the lower-ranked quarterbacks in terms of passing metrics.

Williams is viewed as a once-in-a-generation prospect as a passer - drawing comparisons to Patrick Mahomes due to his outstanding performance over the last two years, which includes winning a Heisman Trophy in 2022.

Last season, under Kingsbury, Williams threw for 3,633 yards and 30 touchdowns, with only five interceptions. He also rushed for 136 yards and scored 11 touchdowns.

OPINION: Why the Chicago Bears must trade Justin Fields and draft Caleb Williams

Kingsbury is expected to take full control of the Commanders offense, where he could create the perfect offense for Williams to step into - if the team gets a chance to select him.

However, the Bears recently hired former Seattle Seahawks offensive play-caller Shane Waldron, who could also be a good fit for the ex-USC star - after working well with Geno Smith at the position.
