Good Morning Britain star Alex Beresford has expressed his hope that His Majesty The King, Charles III, and his sons William, Prince of Wales, and Harry, Duke of Sussex, may reconcile amid the monarch's health crisis.

The world was alarmed on Monday when Buckingham Palace announced the 75-year-old King has been diagnosed with cancer and is due to begin “regular treatments” to combat the disease. Messages from around the world have been sent in support of His Majesty - and reports have revealed 39-year-old Harry is to jet back to the UK to be at his father’s side.

The Prince of Wales, 41, is also supporting the King - while also supporting his wife, Kate, Princess of Wales, who is recovering from surgery she underwent last month. Taking to social media in the wake of the news of the King’s diagnosis, 43-year-old ITV star Alex shared a snap of Charles with Harry when he was a young boy.

It is no secret that relations between the King and William along with Harry have been strained after the younger royal repeatedly hit out at his father, stepmother, brother and sister-in-law in interviews and his damaging autobiography, Spare, which was released last year. In light of the concerning news about King Charles III’s diagnosis, there are hopes his health crisis could bring the family together.

Alex alluded to this, writing: “I just want to hear that The King, Princes William and Harry were all in a room united in the love they have for their father. That kind of medicine the doctor can’t prescribe.” He added a red heart emoji to the post on X also.

Meanwhile, reports have stated that Harry’s wife, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, and their two young children, Prince Archie, four, and Princess Lilibet, two, won’t be coming to the UK. Monday saw Buckingham Palace announce The King is to be treated for cancer - just days after he was treated for an enlarge prostate.

A statement declared: “During The King’s recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted. Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer.

"His Majesty has today commenced a schedule of regular treatments, during which time he has been advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties. Throughout this period, His Majesty will continue to undertake State business and official paperwork as usual. The King is grateful to his medical team for their swift intervention, which was made possible thanks to his recent hospital procedure. He remains wholly positive about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible."

The statement concluded: "His Majesty has chosen to share his diagnosis to prevent speculation and in the hope it may assist public understanding for all those around the world who are affected by cancer."
