Jesse Lingard was bizarrely handed a flute by a fan as he arrived in South Korea to complete his move to FC Seoul.

The former England midfielder looks to have finally landed himself some employment having been out of the game for months. He had offers from West Brom and Al-Ettifaq but turned both down and now looks to have taken a surprise move to South Korea.

He was mobbed by fans as he arrived at Incheon airport and was handed the musical instrument. The thought process behind such a gift was one of Lingard's memorable celebrations, which saw him play a musical instrument after scoring.

FC Seoul are six-time K League champions and have twice reached the final of the Asian Champions League with Lingard set to further improve their squad, provided he passes his medical. The former Manchester United star has been without a club since he left Nottingham Forest in the summer.

He moved to the City Ground on huge money but failed to hit the heights expected and eventually his starting spot wasn't even guaranteed. Lingard and Forest opted to go their separate ways with the player continuing to post clips of him training solo as he tried to stay in shape.

Paul Scholes took aim at Linard after one of his social media posts as the United legend replied: ''Are you just gonna f*** around in the gym or are you actually gonna play football?''

Last month it was reported by Sky Sports that Lingard had severed ties with his representatives in the hope of finding a new club. A source close to the player underlined his determination to play professionally again and his disappointment at not securing a contract sooner.

Lingard had bags of potential when he came through the ranks in Manchester and was given opportunities by Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho. The versatile midfielder scored the winner in United's FA Cup final win over Crystal Palace back in 2016. A year later he scored in their Carabao Cup success over Southampton when Mourinho was at the helm.

After falling down the pecking order at United Lingard rediscovered his best form during a loan stint at West Ham United, which saw him score nine times in just 16 outings, only to reject the chance of returning to the London Stadium before joining Forest.
