Jeremy Clarkson couldn't believe what he was hearing when a Wants To Be A Millionaire contestant selected an EggHead as their Phone A Friend.

Struggling Adrian couldn't answer a question about the environment with confidence as he looked to take his winnings to £64,000. Naturally, he used one of his lifelines to make sure he had the best chance possible and it seems like he played a crafty game to up his chances.

Host Jeremy asked the question: "In the natural world, the term 'nidification' refers specifically to the building of what?" He was given the options webs, dams, reefs or nests. Stumbling, he wasn't certain. "Hmmm, I don't really have any idea about this one. I think I'm going to have to phone a friend," Adrian explained.

"David Attenborough?" Jeremy wondered. But it was actually someone else who knows his stuff. "Sadly not, no - nearly as good, can I call Kevin please." Jeremy then told him "Kevin Attenborough! Of course, let's call Kevin Attenborough - what does Kevin do?" The answer shocked viewers.

"He's one of the Eggheads," Adrian responded, looking a little worried about what everyone would think. "Oh is he? He's an actual Egghead? Oh, that's quite handy. Are you a quizzer?" The hopeful replied: "Well yeah, I bask in everyone else's glory" as he got Kevin Ashman to reveal the answer.

He didn't let him down and picked nests and Adrian went on take home an impressive £125,000. It left those at home wondering if he's just been very smart to pick an expert - or wondering if it goes against the spirit of the game to have someone like that on the end of the phone.

EggsHeads was a popular BBC quiz was cancelled by the BBC back in 2020 before it was taken to Channel 5 some time later. It first premiered in 2003 with Dermot Murnaghan as the presenter before Jeremy Vine took over in 2008. In each episode, a team of five people set out to beat a panel of five quizzers known as eggheads, in a test of general knowledge.

"Who wants to be a millionaire needs clearer boundaries. You can’t have an Egghead on call a friend when I’d be calling Dave from work," one said on twitter. A second person wrote: "This guy on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire has Kevin off of Eggheads as his Phone A Friend. Cheat code completed."

One impressed viewer loved the sneaky move and said on the social media platform: "Guy on Who Wants to Be A Millionaire asks to phone a friend. Clarkson says 'what does your friend do?' Turns out he is Kevin from Eggheads - one of the greatest quizzers in the world!"

This isn't the first time that a famous quizzer has made an appearance on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. The Chase star Mark Labbett went on before he was famous.
