Ben Chilwell questioned Chelsea's desire as they fell to a 4-2 defeat against Wolves amid mounting pressure on Mauricio Pochettino.

The Blues, captained by Chilwell, lost for the first time in 10 matches at home and dropped to 11th in the table after an Axel Disasi own goal and Matheus Cunha hat-trick ensured Cole Palmer's opening effort counted for little. Stamford Bridge heard boos at the full-time whistle as Chelsea conceded four goals in defeat for the second time in a week.

As much as the scoreline, the manner of the west London side's performance will have caused concern. Wolves took full advantage to leapfrog their opponents in the Premier League.

Chilwell believes his side were outcompeted by the visiting side and that Gary O'Neil's team showed they wanted it more on the pitch. The full-back assessed the outing as 'not good enough'.

He added: "I think they probably showed that they wanted it more. Of course we do want it but they probably showed it a little bit more on the pitch. 50/50s, running more. There's no excuses. As soon as they scored the first goal they pretty much dominated the rest of the game."

Pochettino accepted neither he or his side had been good enough. A sentiment that many will have agreed with. He said in his press conference: "I think we are all not [good enough]. At the moment, that is the reality. Myself, also, to be the first responsible for this situation.

"What we were showing today, that we are not good enough. I agree with you 100 per cent. We didn't manage the situation properly and no-one can be safe. I don't want to come here and say I am the best. We are all responsible."

Thiago Silva added a late goal against Wolves, in what looks to be his final season with the club. That did not prevent his wife, Belle, from posting her verdict on X. Undoubtedly, it will be read by many as calling for Pochettino's head.

Belle Silva posted: "It’s time to change. If you wait any longer it will be too late," accompanied with two blue hearts.
