Micky van de Ven so furious he couldn't talk in Tottenham dressing room

Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven was so angry at how Spurs threw away three points against Everton he couldn't speak in the dressing room.

Spurs were cruising to victory at Goodison Park on Saturday after Richarlison returned to Merseyside to haunt his former side with two goals either side of a Jack Harrison effort.

But Toffees star Jarrad Branthwaite had other ideas and in the 94th minute bravely got on the end of a freekick to bundle the ball past Guglielmo Vicario, ensuring relegation-battling Everton took something from the contest.

Tottenham's form has been inconsistent over the past few months, with Sunday's draw their second in their last five, in which they've picked up just two wins.

And it seems the way in which Spurs threw away two points so late in the day against Everton left Van de Ven so angry he could barely muster words in the Tottenham changing room.

Speaking to football.london, the Dutchman, who had just emerged from the away dressing room, admitted he had nothing to say to his teammates: "I was just mad so I don't talk."

He added: "We're really disappointed. We should have killed the game in the end but we didn't do that. We knew Everton were really good at set pieces and they scored two goals from set pieces so it's not good for us. We have to watch it back to see what we could do better and next time we will fix it so they don't score.

"It was a physical game. We know how they play, long balls, fight, headers, second balls. It was a tough game. The second half we played quite well, the first half we were struggling a bit. We have to kill it in the end."

Van de Ven had been out of action for Spurs with a hamstring injury, but he's confident he's over the worst of it now. He said: "No, no [problems], I feel good. Muscles feel good, no pain, nothing so so far so good but I'm just disappointed with the game.

"Of course disappointed we could have put the pressure on the top [of the table]. We didn't do that today so that was really disappointing but next week there's another game and we have to fix it so we get the three points."
