There's no doubting that the price of chocolate has surged in recent years - but shoppers have now spotted a bargain that takes us back to when a Freddo cost just 10p.

Back in 2023 it was reported that supermarkets had increased the price of some festive chocolates by more than 50% due to inflation, which has taken a toll on cocoa, sugar and packaging. This is no doubt painful for those who remember back in 2005, when a Freddo chocolate would cost just 10p - a delicious treat which now sets you back 25p.

But supermarket shoppers have now spotted a chocolate deal which has made them feel like they are back in the 1980s - as some mouth-watering treats can be snapped up for just pennies. According to some eagle-eyed shoppers, you can get your hands on several chocolate bars, including Cadbury Dairy Milk, for just 26p.

One woman took to Facebook to share her discovery on the popular Yellow sticker shopping tips, tricks and Hauls Facebook page. She had spotted several chocolate bars that had been slashed in price - including Cadbury Picnic bars, Snickers and Reese's Peanut Butter Nut bars.

The deal itself showed a basket with a note saying: "All small chocolate bars 26p" - but it looks like there aren't many left. You might have to be quick, as it's likely that stock won't last - and it isn't clear whether all Co-op stores have this offer, or whether it's individual stores trying to get rid of products. The Mirror has contacted Co-op for more information about the offer.

Other shoppers struggled to believe the incredible offer, with one person writing: "Grab the lot, it's chocolate." Another simply said: "1980 prices," making a point at how much cheaper chocolate used to be. A third added: "Those Rolos would be coming home with me." Someone else commented: "Grab us a couple of Picnics, lass."

With Easter just around the corner, people have started to notice more and more holiday chocolate creeping up on the shelves. Recently, a shopper shared that they had found "gigantic Kinder eggs' at Costco.

However, the shopper dubbed the £18 egg "extortionate" - despite it being massive compared to the original egg.
