Dominic Solanke's red-hot form is no surprise to Bournemouth team-mate Antoine Semenyo.

The former Liverpool frontman notched his 13th Premier League goal of the season in Thursday's 1-1 draw at West Ham. Now partner in crime Semenyo claims Solanke is destined for an England call-up in March as the 26-year-old looks to solidify his chances of making Gareth Southgate's squad for the European Championships.

"He definitely has a chance," said the Ghana international. "I think he will get picked but he just needs to keep scoring goals, keep working hard for the team and his chance will come. We see what he can do every day in training. It's no surprise to us but we're very happy that he's scoring lots of goals."

Incredibly, Solanke has already doubled his top-flight goal haul from last season when he only netted six times in 33 outings. Only Erling Haaland and Mohamed Salah (14) have struck more times in the Premier League this term.

Now he's targeting the 20-goal mark and who knows what the high-flying Cherries can achieve now Solanke and Lloyd Kelly, who limped off in midweek, have stayed put beyond the transfer deadline.

Semenyo added on the indispensable duo: "They're important players for us at the end of the day so I'm happy to have them here at the end of this transfer window. All of us are."

The former Bristol City attacker is still grieving following Ghana's premature exit at the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast. But he has been thrust straight back into action at club level - something that has helped ease the pain.

Semenyo continued: "I feel like I'm still processing it right now but I have a job at hand. I know I need to score goals and help the team.

"There was a lot of pressure for sure. You're representing a nation but hopefully, we learn from the experience and do better at the next tournament. It feels good to be back and be with the team again, it's my job at the end of the day to play football and I love it."

Boss Andoni Iraola is expecting a challenging game against Nottingham Forest less than two months on from Bournemouth's 3-2 victory at the City Ground.

Iraola said: “I think it's a team that we have faced very recently. It was a really, really tough game for us. We won, not only because they played with 10, but it was probably the main reason. I think they performed really well against us and it showed. After they went Newcastle away, they scored three. They won the game. Then (Manchester) United at home."
