A single sofa has gone up for rent at the bargain price of £1,050 a month.

The "budget" stay in Greenwich - a short walk from the Cutty Sark - might sound a bit (a lot) dire, but there are some perks. For instance, there's the added bonus of access to music equipment, as well as a balcony. And there's a bathroom too - hurrah! - but you'll have to share it.

While there doesn't appear to be a duvet and a pillow based on the listing images, there is a blanket. The host is also throwing in breakfast. The sofa price per night fluctuates though - from £35 a night for the first three bookings of his humble home, which then goes up to £42 a kip, plus an Airbnb fee.

The basic offering only has one review so far, which impressively gave the sofa stay three stars. "The flat is basic, however, it is clean and you only share it with a mature, discreet lady," it reads. There is a comfortable couch, access to pilates/music equipment and a balcony. In less than 10 mins you are in Cutty Sark and Greenwich Park with all the museums. Breakfast included." [sic]

Speaking to What's The Jam, the host, Vicky said: "[This is] a budget alternative to explore the iconic Royal Greenwich." She added that because it is simply a "comfy" sofa, it's only suitable for a short-term stay. While £35 a night might seem steep for such a basic offering, it's been reported that the average cost of a hotel in the area is a whopping £208 a night. So this could be quite the steal...

Earlier this year, a miniscule "flat" went up for sale in London - and was ridiculed for its bold claims. The tiny property in Walthamstow - a quarter of the average apartment size in the capital - has been listed for £132,000 on Rightmove and it might be one of the smallest studios you've ever seen. It essentially has just one room, with a shower room eating up a chunk of the space.

The floor plan for the whole bedroom is 3.3x3m, or approximately 11 square metres. Pictures of the top floor of the pad on Leslie Road in Leyton, East London, show a single bed, and a small bit of floor before the cooker. Thankfully, you get a sink and washing machines in a row on the far wall.

There is a small shower and bathroom at the other end, making the whole thing a little bit snug. But there's a comical side to the housing issue - it's perfectly placed if you can find room to house a young child in the flat! The estate agent clarifies that your potential new home 'in a popular location near to good schools'.
