A lucky Brit has bagged more than £60million in this week's mega EuroMillions draw, National Lottery's new operator has confirmed.

The unnamed winner has claimed an incredible £61,708,231 share of the £123million jackpot prize, which has been split with another ticket-holder in Spain. Operator Allwyn - which recently took over from Camelot - has today confirmed it received a claim for the £61.7million, won by a UK ticketholder in the draw on Tuesday (January 30, 2024).

The huge sum would make the mystery individual richer than Stormzy and former One Direction members Niall Horan and Zayn Malik. As with all major wins, the claim is due to go through a process of validation, which includes checks to ensure the Games Rules Terms and Conditions are met and that the integrity of The National Lottery is protected.

The prize will then be paid at an appointment with one of The National Lottery’s Winners’ Advisers, subject to validation. EuroMillions winners are under no obligation to reveal their identity to the general public, but once a ticket has been validated and paid, the winner can decide whether or not they want to share the news. Until then, there will be no information on whether they are an individual or syndicate winner, or where the ticket was purchased, unless the winner decides to go public.

Andy Carter, Senior Winners’ Advisor at The National Lottery, said: “This is absolutely incredible news and we’re delighted that we’ve received a claim. This is the first UK EuroMillions jackpot win of 2024, following on from an incredible 2023 which saw six UK EuroMillions jackpots won, including a £111.7M win by an anonymous single ticket-holder in June. Our focus is now on supporting this latest lucky ticket-holder through the process and helping them start to enjoy their truly life-changing win.”

National Lottery players can generate a whopping £30million every week for National Lottery-funded projects. The funds are used to support good causes across the nation, with over 658,000 grants supporting projects both big and small – having been made across the UK to date and over £48BN having been raised. In July 2022, a UK ticket-holder scooped a record jackpot of £195m as part of the EuroMillions lottery, making them £40million richer than Adele.
