Celebrity Bake Off 2024 first star announced as huge 90s girlband star
Mel B has been announced as the first star joining the 2024 line-up for The Great Celebrity Bake Off for SU2C.
The news was revealed on Friday's Good Morning Britain by presenter Richard Arnold. Richard, 54, said: "GMB has some insider info... we can reveal one of the famous faces laying out parchment paper on the new series is... it is the one and only... cheeky drumroll, yes, it's Mel B!"
Richard added that Spice Girls star Mel B, 48, will be joining 19 other celebrities on the show this spring and the rest of the line-up will be announced in "due course".
The presenter then asked guest host, Robert Rinder, about his time in the famous tent after he appeared on Celebrity Bake Off back in 2020. Robert, 45, quipped: "I was the worst they ever had!" Meanwhile, co-host Charlotte Hawkins said of Mel B entering the tent: "She'll be brilliant, she'll be great fun!"
It comes as Friends star David Schwimmer joined the celebrity version of The Great British Bake Off for the 2023 line-up as each year lands huge stars for the spin-off series. Each week sees four celebs go head to head over two days in which they tackle signature, technical and showstopper challenges in a bid to be named Star Baker, while also raising funds for cancer research.

It comes as Mel B teased earlier this month that the five original Spice Girls will hit the road to tour once again - and says fans will know more in a few short weeks time.
The singer rocketed to international fame in 1996 when, along with Emma Bunton, 47, Mel C, 49, Geri Horner, 51, and 49-year-old Victoria Beckham, the Spice Girls released their debut single Wannabe. The band was rocked in 1998 when Geri quit and the group ultimately disbanded two years later.
However, the ladies reformed in 2007 to embark on a reunion tour - with all five taking part - and they later performed as a five at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. But since then, the full five have failed to tour together - as Victoria opts to focus on her fashion label instead.
Now Mel has teased that all five ladies are planning to take to the stage to perform again - as she along with Emma, Mel C and Geri enjoyed success in 2019 with a tour without Posh Spice involved.
Opening up to American feel-good morning radio show Today with Hoda & Jenna, the singer known as Scary Spice declared: "Well, I've been saying this forever, but now we're actually going to be releasing some really good news in about a few weeks that involves all five of us."
