Coronation Street star Sally Dynevor and Bridgerton star daughter Phoebe have paid tribute to a much-loved family member who died earlier in the week.

The actors took to social media to share the news of the passing of Sally's mother-in-law and Phoebe's grandmother Shirley Dynevor, who died at the age of 89 on January 10.

Sally's husband Tim took to Instagram to announce the sad news. He wrote: ""Mum - May 15, 1933 - January 10, 2023."

Sally, who portrays Sally Metcalfe on the popular ITV soap, reposted Tim's update on her Instagram story. Phoebe, who played Daphne Basset in Netflix series Bridgerton, also shared the post on her Stories to her 3.6 million followers.

Former Coronation Street star Ryan Thomas replied to Tim's post with a red love heart, while Sally Carmen, who plays Abi Franklin on the cobbles, wrote: "Thinking of you ," followed by three yellow love hearts.

Sian Powers actress Sacha Parkinson commented: "Sending lots of love to you all."

Shirley was a budding actress and appeared in several TV series from the 1950s to 1970s, including Family Solicitor (1961), The Liars (1996) and 1976 film Rogue Male.

She married actor and director Gerard Dynevor - both were born in Cardiff - in 1954 but he passed away in 1966.

Sally and Tim have been married for 27 years and share three children; Fellow actress Phoebe, 27, Samuel, 25 and 19-year-old Harriet.

Sally, 59, has been a mainstay on the ITV soap since joining Coronation Street in 1986 and she signed a new contract before the new year which will see her on our screens until at least the end of 2023.

Her and Michael Le Vell, 58, who plays her on-screen ex-husband Kevin Webster, both agreed new terms last December. The pair have appeared in nearly 7,000 episodes between but remain firm favourites on the show.

Michael and Sally have both taken breaks from the show throughout their long-running appearances, as they faced health troubles.

Back in 2009, Sally took six-months out of work as she recovered from breast cancer. While Michael had to take time out in 2014, to deal with his drinking.

Alongside these two iconic soap stars, Corrie veteran Bill Roache has also signed to stay on the cobbles for another year.

It has been reported that the 90-year-old who has played Ken Barlow on the soap since it began in 1970, has signed a contract for £250,000 and will extend his record for the longest-serving TV actor in a continuous role with the deal.
