The rugby star and former Leeds Rhinos player, 41, was diagnosed with MND in 2019 aged 37. Rob's wife, Lindsey, appeared on Thursday's Lorraine to talk about her new TV investigation, Lindsey Burrow: Who Cares for Our Carers?, in a bid to raise awareness of the incredible job carers do.

"There are so many people in this country that have to give up work, their sole responsibility is caring for that person and suddenly their identity is taken away from them."

Later in the interview, host, Lorraine Kelly, asked how is Rob to which Lindsey replied: "He's really good, he is. We've been really fortunate that Rob's health hasn't declined significantly. So he's still here, he's still soldiering on, still in good spirits."

It comes as Rob, his wife Lindsey and their friend Kevin Sinfield were chosen as winners of a Special Recognition Award at the Mirror’s Pride of Britain Awards in 2023.

Diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in 2019 and given two years at most to live, previously private Rob has since opened up his life to raise awareness of the condition as Lindsey has cared for him, refusing professional support.

The trio, including Kevin, 43, who has run seven ultra-marathons in seven days for MND among other astonishing fundraising acts, have raised over £13million for MND charities. It was for this reason that the trio were chosen as winners of a Special Recognition Award at the Mirror’s Pride of Britain Awards, with TSB.

Meanwhile, earlier this year, the Prince of Wales surprised Rob and Kevin by presenting them with their CBEs during a visit to Headingley Stadium. William paid tribute to the pair's "phenomenal" efforts in raising funds and awareness for motor neurone disease (MND).

At the time, William said: "I’ve brought a special couple of things up with me to give you today. I did check with Kevin to make sure you didn’t want to go down to London to receive this, but I brought your CBEs up here to give to you today if that’s OK, while you’re in your home, in Leeds, surrounded by your family and friends. I thought today was a good day."
