Ryan Reynolds' Wrexham have wrapped up a pair of deadline day deals, including a move for striker Jack Marriott, but there could yet be more to come from the League Two high-flyers.

Marriott has joined from Fleetwood Town, with Luke Bolton arriving from Salford City. They still haven't given up on midfield target Jamie Lindsay, though, with a club-record fee likely to be needed to land the Rotherham star.

The Red Dragons' current record stands at £300,000, the sum they paid to bring in Ollie Palmer back in 2022. Summer signing James McClean was another six-figure arrival, setting Wrexham back a reported £250,000, but the fee for Lindsay would put those in the shade.

Scotland youth international Lindsay, 28, has twice won promotion to the Championship in his four-and-a-half years with Rotherham. According to The Mail, a move for the former Ross County man would see Reynolds and co-owner Rob McElhenney 'smash' the current transfer record and lay down a marker in the push for a second straight promotion.

Wrexham, who won the National League last season, sit second in League Two after 27 games. They also have at least one game in hand on each of the teams around them, thanks in part to their run to the fourth round of the FA Cup.

Paul Mullin and Elliot Lee, two men who played a big part in last season's promotion, both inked new contracts at the start of the month. Now, though, there should be increased competition for places in several positions.

Marriott, who previously played Championship football for the likes of Derby and Peterborough, joins after scoring five times for Fleetwood in League One this term. Right-back Bolton, 24, came through Manchester City's academy and has more than 100 senior games under his belt across the Championship, League One and League Two.

“I’m really pleased to be here and happy to get the deal over the line," new frontman Marriott said after signing. “The club’s performances, the way they play as a team is a real key factor for me signing and the trajectory that the Club is going in is something that I want to be involved in and I’m absolutely delighted to be here.”

"We’re really pleased to bring Jack to the Club," added manager Phil Parkinson. "He’s got proven experience at a higher level and comes to us looking to make a real contribution in our second half of the season."

Parkinson also hailed Bolton as a player capable of bringing "pace and dynamism" to the high-flyers. Bolton himself made it clear he has moved to the Racecourse Ground to chase down league leaders Stockport County and win the title.

"I’m buzzing to be here and how the Club has kicked on League Two to be second in the table is something I want to be a part of," he said. “Hopefully we can push on and go for the title because it’s not out of the picture that’s for sure and I’m glad to be part of it.”
