BBC EastEnders star Shona McGarty debuts jaw-dropping hair transformation
EastEnders cast member Shona McGarty was met with compliments from fans on social media after having showcased a hair transformation in a video this week.
The actor, 32 - who's best known for playing Whitney Dean on the BBC soap opera - took to Instagram on Monday to tease that she had ditched her typically brunette hair. She was seen modelling what's believed to be a blonde wig. The footage showed Shona sat in a makeup chair as she debuted the new look, with her understood to have been in a dressing room on the set of EastEnders. She teased in a caption over the video: "Maybe blondes do have more fun?"

Seemingly referencing the start of a joke, Shona wrote in the caption of the post: "A blonde walks into a bar…." She went on to share that her makeup and hair had been done by Charli Caisley from the Beauty Collective.
The post has almost 3,000 likes on the platform. Among the celebrities who liked it was the actor's co-star Kellie Bright, who plays Linda Carter on the long-running show. There was reaction from some fans in the comments section.
One fan wrote: "Blonde really suits you. I love it." Someone else commented: "Oh you look so good as a blonde." A third person reacted to Shona's post: "Omg this really suits you." Whilst another follower wrote in response: "Fab on you."

Someone said: "Gorgeous. Blonde really suits you, Shona." A sixth person wrote on the platform: "Wow." Sharing their thoughts, another fan said: "I think you should do your hair this colour." One person wrote to Shona: "Looks amazing."

Whilst Emma Barton - who's best known for playing Honey Mitchell - wrote alongside some heart emojis in her comment this week: "Dolly."
Others weren't as impressed though. One person wrote: "I hope this is a wig." Someone responded: "I want to love it ... but ... hmmm ... brunette all the way for me." Whilst one follower reacted: "Much better darker." Another person wrote: "You always look beautiful but blonde is not for you."
Whilst some of her followers shared that they didn't mind either way, with one person writing: "Fab no matter what hair colour." Agreeing with the sentiment, someone else wrote in a comment: "You are stunning dark or blonde."
It comes ahead of Shona's departure from EastEnders, after having played Whitney since 2008. She announced that she would be leaving the show last year, saying at the time that she had decided to "spread her wings". Her final scenes are set to be broadcast sometime this year.
