A woman has admitted to purposely covering her shared house with carnivorous plants just to annoy her vegan roommate. She explained how she has lived with her friend, who has been vegan since she was 14, for three years without any problems - but this all changed when she returned home from an animal product conference two months ago.

She said: “My roommate is a bit of a plant lady. She’s been collecting and raising different types of plants for years and has amassed quite a collection. She even puts little sticker labels with the names she’s given them. She would die for her plants.

After returning from the conference, she noticed a 'negative' change in her personality and overall demeanour. The woman added: “She came back with a more fiery spirit. She started going to events regularly, became a local activist, started preaching to people in the street, etc. It wasn’t a problem until every conversation with her transformed into telling me why I should go vegan."

With her vegan friend continually berating her for being ‘evil’ for consuming animal products, she admitted she had taken to waking up early so she could eat her eggs in the car park at work rather than hearing her rant at her at home.

And with the duo heading towards the end of their lease, the friend decided to pull a little plant stunt before parting ways. She said: “I headed to an exotic plants place near where I live and got a bunch of different types of carnivorous plants. I’m talking every single species I could get my hands on.”

And when her vegan friend arrived home, plant sparks began to fly: “She was livid. But because I bought them and I hadn’t moved or touched anything of hers, she couldn’t do anything. It’s been like this for the last few weeks and I’ve been caring for them daily, even researching the best ways to keep them alive and purchasing products so they can thrive. Honestly, I’ve actually gotten pretty fond of the plants. I went as far as naming and labelling them,” she said.

After taking her petty plant tale to Reddit, many readers were proud of her planned propagation: “Honestly propagation is empowering once you learn to make endless plants out of a piece you pinched off a mother plant,” said one. Another poked fun at her housemate: “Does she lecture you on the cruelty of feeding plants meat? Or does she lecture the plants on how cruel they are for enjoying it?”

One commented: “My friend’s ex was a normal, sane vegan who kindly cooked plain chicken for my dog when we visited. They do exist!” “Vegan here,” said one. “Very odd and illogical to be angry with an animal for its nature,” while another vegan commented: “Normal, sane vegan here. Eat meat in front of me, it doesn’t bother me. And who cares if the plants eat meat. As long as they don’t try to attack me, I’m good.”
