Warzone Season 2 will re-introduce an updated Fortune's Keep map
Resurgence players, rejoice! Fortune's Keep is returning to Warzone in the next seasonal update, but it might look a little different to the original.
Unlike its much-maligned predecessor, the current iteration of Warzone launched with a fully playable Resurgence mode as part of the MW3 Season 1 update, with Vondel and Ashika Island being part of the map rotation from day one. And the good news keeps on coming for Resurgence players because, despite Warzone Season 1 Reloaded being bare in terms of content for the mode, Warzone Season 2 is set to re-introduce an iconic map; Fortune's Keep.
Fortune's Keep's return has been confirmed by Activision itself, with the publisher sending out care packages to select Call of Duty streamers ahead of the launch of Warzone Season 2, and the hints included with the package weren't very subtle. Content creator @ModernWarzone shared a post on Twitter showing a model of Fortune's Keep that's been sent out to streamers, essentially confirming the map's impending return to the MW3-inspired battle royale title.
But, the images shared with the post suggest that Fortune's Keep might look quite a bit different to the original, with what looks like earthquake damage being present across major POIs including Castle, Keep and Winery. Another post from the same account shows what appears to be a model of a brand-new location on the map, with water combat potentially being introduced.
Activision confirmed before Warzone's launch that both Fortune's Keep and Rebirth Island will be returning to the title in 2024, with reports suggesting Verdansk is also returning at some point this year, so it seems like a case of one down and two to go for Call of Duty players, in what could be a nostalgia-filled year of content.

Despite the bugs and issues that arose following the launch of Season 1 Reloaded, which were so widespread that Raven Software posted an apologetic statement on Twitter, Warzone is in a great place right now. The gameplay changes introduced for this iteration of Warzone, along with the release of the fantastic Urzikstan map, mean that the title is almost back to its very best.
And with Fortune's Keep confirmed to be making a comeback, along with Rebirth Island and supposedly Verdansk too, there's a lot to be excited about. Sure, there's a lot of nostalgia at play here, and it's an easy win to bring back these popular maps, but there's just enough variation to get away with it, particularly with Urzikstan in the mix.
The only question now is, will Activision pull a Fortnite OG with Verdansk and make it a limited-time event? Or will it be a dedicated mode? The publisher only needs to look at how popular Epic Games' content was, and their subsequent decision to bring back Fortnite OG, because it's a blueprint the Call of Duty franchise could have a lot of success with.
