Gregg Wallace has described his wife Anne-Marie Sterpini as an "absolute pillar of strength" whilst opening up about difficult times that their family has experienced recently.

The broadcaster, 59, and his wife, 37 - who is known as Anna - are understood to have been together since 2013. They later welcomed their son Sid, now four, and Gregg is also a parent to Tom, 29, and Libby, 27, from a previous marriage.

The MasterChef judge has spoken about his family in recent years, including having shared almost two years ago that Sid was diagnosed with autism. And it was announced last year that Anna's father Massimo Sterpini had died, aged 66.

Gregg has opened up about his life in a new interview, with him having told the Sun that "the whole family revolves" around Anna, whom he married in 2016. He shared that she has had three operations on her stomach, including a hysterectomy, and had to use a colostomy bag for a year.

He commented about his wife: "She's got an autistic little boy, she's just lost her dad, she's got grown-up stepchildren and a workaholic husband. That girl is an absolute pillar of strength and I have nothing but admiration for her." The entrepreneur discussed their son, who he described as a "remarkable little boy". Gregg previously shared on Loose Women back in 2022 that Sid had been diagnosed with autism and a global development delay.

He's now said that the family are "very fortunate" to have got Sid into "a special needs school". Gregg said that his youngest son is "very happy," adding: "He's non-verbal and in nappies still, but communication is improving."

Discussing such communication, he said that there's a "lot of eye contact and smiles," for example. The father-of-three added that Sid spends more time interacting with toys and has "a lot of character" despite being non-verbal. Gregg said that the family hope for him to "develop as much as he can" and wants to "understand his world" as much as possible. He told the outlet that the lack of communication can be "troubling," as they can't always tell Sid's feelings.

He shared that the family "want more communication" and "don't care what form it takes". The podcast host suggested that in the absence of verbal communication, it could be through cards, symbols or typing, for example. The interview also saw Gregg discuss his late father-in-law Massimo Sterpini. It had been announced in November last year that Massimo had passed away after having been diagnosed with cancer less than two years earlier.

Massimo and his wife Rina Sterpini are said to have moved into their daughter Anna and Gregg's home in Kent after the latter couple's wedding. They are said to have converted a room into a "hospital room" following the diagnosis. Gregg said that his father-in-law was "the best cook on a barbecue" and added that the family miss him. He told the outlet that he's living in "a matriarchal family," noting that Anna and Rina are "busy girls" who "run" the home.

The former greengrocer - who launched his podcast A Piece of Cake recently - added that his eldest two children have "melded" into the family. And he said in the interview that Tom and Libby "adore" their younger brother Sid.
