Palworld crossplay – playing with people across platforms explained
Playing with people on other platforms is currently not possible in Palworld – but Pocketpair has already laid out plans to offer crossplay support in future.
Those playing Palworld on PC via Steam will be well aware that it’s more feature-complete than the early access version on Xbox – and even the one available through the Microsoft PC store. This has understandably led many players to question whether Palworld crossplay is possible at all, given that there’s currently a lot of disparity to be found within both versions. Palworld’s mix of creature collecting, sandbox survival, and crafting would make it go down a treat when played together.
The main difference between the Xbox and PC versions of Palworld, of course, is the number of players within a single server either version can support. Those playing on Xbox Series X|S can only share their world with up to three other players simultaneously, while PC players can enjoy 32-player sessions. But the question remains, is Palworld crossplay even a thing?
Palworld crossplay – can Xbox and PC players play together?
Unfortunately, no. At this present time, there is no official Palworld crossplay support, meaning players on Xbox and PC (via Steam) currently have no way of playing together. That said, as detailed in the Palworld roadmap documenting future updates and modes Pocketpair intends to add later down the line, Palworld crossplay is explicitly mentioned.
There’s no guarantee that it’ll come any time soon, but so-called “Steam-Xbox Crossplay” plans were listed under the “Planned Future Updates” section. This is alongside other forthcoming improvements such as he addition of raid bosses, PVP, as well as “New islands, Pals, Bosses and Technologies”. The vital piece of info missing right now, however, is when exactly any of these updates are planned to start rolling out.
Why Star Wars Jedi: Survivor's six week delay is a good thingIt's not all doom and gloom then when it comes to Palworld crossplay support, however. Pocketpair – just like everyone else – seems like it’s been completely taken aback by the game’s popularity. If you think the lack of Palworld crossplay between Xbox and PC is bad, though, it could always be worse. There’s no sign or mention of either a PS5 or Nintendo Switch version of Palworld coming any time soon. We’ll be sure to keep you posted on when or if Palworld crossplay becomes a reality.
